Me and a friend are trying to play a game online, but we can't see each other's hosted game. We can't even connect using IPs either. I think we're both behind routers, would that be a problem? We were both able to connect to the one BC game we could see in the server lists. We're both running unmodded v1.1. We've even reinstalled a few times. Anyone help? Do we need to set certain settings on our routers?

yes, routers are your problem. Routers are basicly just a proxy. The internet IP address is stored in the router memory, while the routers own DHCP or Static IP's are given out to each computer. Directly connecting both computers to your internet, should let you locate each other.

There is no way to bypass this without directly connecting to the internet?

No, NAT (network address translation) won't allow direct IP connections in this way. Depending on the game you may be able to run via a router however I'm doubtful BC supports this.
