Hello.

I recently found out, that there are mods for this game. And of course, I came here, to see what awesomness the comunity cas created. I installed some, but they didn't appear in-game. Googled it, and people said, that you need the 1.1 patch. Well, I return, find the patch, download it, open the install, allow for it to run(because frankly, Vista DOESN'T suck), select the language, and...

An error window pops up saying it didn't find a valid installation.

Few retrys, doesn't work. Few location experiments, it doesn't work.

HALP?

No, I installed it to F:\Star Trek Bridge Commander

But as I said, I tried few location experiments, including moving the entire installation to C:\Program Files\Activision\Bridge Commander .

And F: drive is my external USB HDD. I have all the games on there(mostly, I have my Steam on it, and other stuphs, too, which is really MOST of it).

What do you mean by "moving the entire installation"? Do you mean completely uninstalling and reinstalling the game to another location or manually moving the installation folder without actually reinstalling the game?

Moving the files manually, of course.

The only thing I remember uninstalling and reinstalling trans-drives is Steam, but even then I moved the SteamApps folder from C: to F:.

You can't do that. Well, technically, you can, but the proper way to move a game from one location to another is to completely reinstall it.

Since you're using Vista, I suggest installing the game to C:\Activision\Bridge Commander. Do that, reboot computer and try patching again.

Btw, is your copy of the game legal or obtained in some illegal way (pirated)?

I take it that means your copy of the game is illegal. I'm sorry, but the forum rules don't allow providing help to people with illegal game copies, so I can't help you any further without getting myself in trouble.

Atleast tell me, if a legal copy is available these days.

That shouldn't get you into trouble.
