I cannot install BC anymore, I click install and it goes to the install shield then nothing. It won't go any further. I am running Windows XP Professional with service pack 3.

Insert CD into the drive and close the launcher that automatically opens. Now, go to My Computer, right click on your CD/DVD drive icon which should now look like a BC icon and choose Open. Right click on Setup.exe and choose Properties. Go to Compatibility tab, enable Compatibility mode and set it for Windows 98 / Windows Me. Click Ok and double-click that file to run the installation from there. If you still have the same problem, just give it more time. I had a problem like yours with another game. I had to wait for about 10-15 minutes for installation to start. I'm not sure if the same will work here, ofcourse.

Thanks I've tried all that nothing works. The only way I can seem to install it is on my laptop, patching it then copying it to a flash drive to put back into my Activision directory. I've had the same problem with trying to install Armada 2. I've tried waiting and restarting at one point it was over 24 hours before it actually got past the install shield.

Strange. I never had to wait that long. I did, however, read in some computer magazine that this problem is not so uncommon as it may seem. According to the author of the article, some (mostly older) games sometimes have this problem on XP for an unknown reason. Running installation in Compatibility mode usually solves the problem. I had this problem on one of previous XP installations. When I formatted my hard drive and reinstalled XP, the problem was gone. I installed the same game with no problems and I didn't change any hardware component. I never had such problem on Win 98. What OS do you have on your laptop; also XP or Vista?

And people say Vista sucks

My laptop runs Vista and to specify, it gets to the install shield and then the install shield disappears. The program is running in the background but nothing happens. I don't really want to resort to reinstalling windows...to fix issues for only two games. I've seen other threads with people having similar problems and am surprised there doesn't seem to be a fix for it. Any more suggestions would be appreciated.

Captain Neal;4765665dose it get to 52% and stop? cause if it dose take it to the nearist CHIP gaming shop take £3.10 and get the scuffs taken of it.
I don't think that's the problem. Look:
rgcsg1;4763395I cannot install BC anymore, I click install and it goes to the install shield then nothing. It won't go any further.
Apparently, installation doesn't even start. It won't go beyond Installation Shield.

rgcsg1;4764712The only way I can seem to install it is on my laptop...
Apparently, it works on his laptop, so I doubt disc is dirty or scratched. :uhm:

Captain Neal;4765665...if not then its the compatability pannel on the bc.exe files option cp.
That's exactly what I said and it didn't help. ;)

As far as I know, XP doesn't have the option to run as Administrator. Does it? Plus, game works fine on his Vista laptop.
My laptop runs Vista

:agreed I'm afraid there's not much you can do. As far as I know, noone has found any permanent solution for this problem. Just be patient and keep trying. Time is the key. It should work eventually.
And people say Vista sucks

Compared to Win 98 (Second Edition, to be specific), both XP and Vista suck. ;)
