I've just bought a new PC, and the first thing I want to do is install BC. I've patched it, and installed KM 1 by copying the files into the BC root directory. However, when I try and run BC, I just get a black screen with the KM1 BC cursor. I have to close it by going into task manager.

I'm using Vista Home Premium 32, an Intel Core 2 Extreme X9650 3ghz, 4gb of memory and a GeForce 8800GTX card.

Any help would be appreciated!

More heartaches caused by vista. I hope Bill is happy with all the trouble that disappointment of his has caused. Someone who knows the way to make bc work in vista should make a post explaining the process. I do'nt know how many times I have seen this same type of request. I'll never own vista, so I'm sorry I can't be of much help. I do however hope you find an answer to your problem without a great deal of trouble.

The problem most likely isn't Vista! I've never had a problem with BC and Vista. Hell, I've never had a problem with Vista. The endless bitching about Vista is starting to really annoy me as well.

I would guess that there was a corruption in either your download, extraction or installation of KM. If you get a console report, the problem can probably be rectified swiftly.

I don't have had problems installing BC on Vista before...

try installing it outside the program files folder...or your C drive for that matter...

such folders are better secured than any other place...

second, try running BC using compatibility mode...on the bc icon:

rightmouseclick properties, compatibility-tab activate compatibility mode, and select windows xp

if that does not work for you. try activate the run as administrator which you can find in the same tab....

Thank you all for you replies, especially Henze! Right clicking on the BC icon and running it in Windows XP compatibility mode, as well as ticking the box saying I was the administrator fixed the problem. Brilliant! :)
