I decided to try and run the BC battle scenes and quickbattle with a Joypad and a conversion program. unfortunately, after cleaning out the other button assignments to prevent clashing, something causes the ship to instantly blow up. I'm thinking something is triggering the keyboard shortcut for self destruct, or for green alert. any suggestions?

well the key for self destruct is ctrl-D. I know that D is the default right yaw key, are you pressing ctrl when you use the joypad?

you have to set one of the buttons to serve as contoll, alt, or shift. this is doing it randomly.

the pad is a Logitech Dual Action the program (recommended by an actual game designer) is Joystick 2 Mouse

that's why I stripped some controll assignments off. the minute I pared it down, THEN it started. menus clicking themselves I could deal with (it was bringing up the hit targets on the opposing ships ;) )
