Hi everyone, I got a question about the menu

Is there anyway I can edit the ship selection menu without using BCMP? Everytime I try to use BCMP to edit it all the ships get uninstalled cause it says something bout the files needed for it are missing, and I end up having to reinstall everything to fix it. I just got so many menu tabs for ships that should be under federation or whatever but they're not and it would be nice to have them under one tab. Also it would be nice to have like all the Galaxys under one tab, etc. Anyway I can do this? This is just for myself

well, for one, never ever ever use BCMP's File Checker (or Menus) options - they are inaccurate and will disable things... second, go to scrips/custom/ships, and open the py of the ship you want to change... look for: menuGroup = 'XXXXXXX' playerMenuGroup = 'XXXXXX' and put in 'Fed Ships' (or whatever menu you want them in) so it appears as: menuGroup = 'Fed Ships' playerMenuGroup = 'Fed Ships'

Thats because you need to add the Submenu information to the ship def take below for an example, in this example i'll be using the defiant Foundation.ShipDef.Defiant = Foundation.FedShipDef(abbrev, species, { 'name': longName, 'iconName': iconName, 'shipFile': shipFile, "SubMenu": SubMenu }) You need to add the section highlighted above to your shipdef, note that there is no , on the last part and the one before it does. That should solve your problem BCDS

alphabetazation should be in the next submenu mod... and, if ever you get that BSOD (blackscreen/cursor), you can always feel free to post a screenshot of the console report... it is explained how to do this, in one of the stickied threads...
