Okay, so this is a problem every modder out there should already know how to fix. I'm trying to install the Ambassador pack here:Ambassador Class TNG Pack, Bridge Commander Downloads, Bridge Commander Canon TNG-DS9-VOY

The problem is, every time I fire the torpedoes, the game crashes. It is REALLY annoying me, as, for whatever reason, I can't find the answer already here or anywhere else :Puzzled:

Anyway, I've run into this problem more than once, with multiple mods. Please reveal the secret to me! How do I fix this problem!? I'm pretty sure I have to edit a hardpoint file, but how? If I could just be told how just by editing the .py file with a text editor, that would be great. If I have to use the MPE thing or whatever, fine, but please be clear in your explanation, it'd be like the 2nd time I've ever used it.

tl;dr: tell me how to fix the torpedo hardpoint crash problem clearly and I'll give you magic cookies from Heaven.

what is happening, is the Hardpoint file , is looking for a texture of the torp- you are trying to fire, and when it does not find it, CRASH.

Hmm, did you install all the requirements that's stated in the readme? Try installing the Elminster's Common Weapons Pack. Some ships use this so hopefully that'll help. Read the readme.txt next time and check all the requirements for each ship. http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/Elminsters_Common_Weapons_Pack;57735 Just make another post if it doesn't work and, post a link to the ship that has this problem. Try the Weapons Pack first though before reposting.

actually tiq, that should just cause the box-glow error, the problem actually is that the Hardpoint is looking for a torpedo you do not have installed. what you need to do is open the HP, either in MPE, Python or notepad and find the Torpedoes system, then make sure that the torpedo named is in your tactical/projectiles folder (either by renaming another one, downloading the missing one or changing the entry in the Hardpoint).

this is a lot easier to change in MPE, you just open the Torpedoes system and change the projectile. If you want to use Notepad/wordpad or python, it involves finding a particular line of code that looks something like this: Torpedoes.SetTorpedoScript(0, "Tactical.Projectiles.Dur_Photon") the underlined portion is the script name for the torpedo, in this particular case, Dur_Photon.py

You are right ACEs, and as he said it is easier to redo in MPE, because in useing NotePad it is SO VERY EASY to create a syntax error, and you will still have troubles.

Magic cookies for you sir. Thank you for answering my question exactly! Your help is very much appreciated. (Why didn't I think of this? And, personally I prefer notepad because I'm weird like that )
