Ok, i posted a thread a while back looking 4 help with my BSOD. however, USSSovereign who was helping me stopped posting. I'm reposting so i can hopefully get bc working b4 i go back 2 school. bc has a prob with foundation.py and the error seems to change lins and yet stay the same-here is the line bc has a prob with pModule = __import__(shipDotPrefix + shipFile) apparently it is an empty module name. i need to know what to call it.
you already tried a reinstall ??
lost my cd :P
Post the complete console report.
You misinterpreted the error. It would seem from your pretty vague description that the game is having problems loading a ship script or hardpoint.
Need a full console report.
I have also just run into this problem. It's wierd, the game was working fine with mods installed, but I had to uninstall everything to get rid of some of them and clean it up. When I go to reinstall the game EXACTLY the same as before, I get the black screen. Even when I run the test mode it gives me the black screen right away. Here is the console report, hopefully someone can help. Thanks
Did you mix BC Supermod with other mods? You're not supposed to do that.
You can fix the error by opening scripts\custom\ships\Akiras.py with notepad and changing all lines with "Foundation.AkiraDef" to "Foundation.FedShipDef" but the only way to avoid additional problems is to create a seperate install just for BC Supermod.
I did have bc supermod before, but I got rid of all mods, and unstalled the game. I then decided to play it again so I reinstalled the game, the patch, bcmp and bcmi and thats it. When I went to try the game to make sure everything was ok, I get the black screen. No mods are currently installed, it worked fine before and now it is being a jerk.
I tried going into scripts/custom/ships, but all that is there is one python file called _init_, and it will not let me open it.
Did you delete the BC folder before you reinstalled? If you did do you use Vista/Windows 7?
Edit: Check your C:\Users\\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ directory for a backup copy of your BC folder and delete that as well.
