I haven't touched BC in probably 2 years, but recently started looking over the new mods for the game and have wanted to fire it up again.
The problem I'm having is that while doing the setup, it freezes on a sfx file (Episode 3, Mission 2 I think) and comes up with an error message shortly after and crashes.
In XP I did not have any problems, but I've read Vista can be a bit trickier, and would appreciate any help you can give.
Some specs, although I don't think the specs are the problem:
Windows Vista SP1 Intel CPU T2300 1.66 GHz 2.0 GB RAM Plenty of free HD space
And yes, I know the specs aren't great, but it should run low-res BC without a hitch.
Also, have things changed for the modding thing? Or is it still the same BCMP and BCMI, Quick Battle Replacement (test mode?) that it was a while back?
Well, im not good with the crash solving stuff though I will say that you should remove BCMP and BCMI and install the latest version of BCUT(it does what those 2 do and then some). Also the normal modded install these days has KM1.0(has most of the scripts and many systems and ships), most people that do multi have KM installed and its not suggested to have any other mods installed so you would need to have a seperate install for like galaxy charts and any of the BSG and Stargate mods. If you want to install it you can find it on filefront main(not on BCfiles) or grab it here. bckobayashimaru.de • View topic - Kobayashi Maru 1.0 Download
Oh, forgot to add that fact:
I don't have any BC files on this computer, this is a fresh install.
Good to know about the new things though, I remember KM being released, although I don't think I ever installed it. Definitely a good starting point.
I don't have vista, but I heard that you need to install it to C:/Games instead of Program files
turn off UAC and you are set to install anywhere....

Tried both of these solutions, once with either of them, and twice with both and still got back a similar error:
I also tried shutting down all of my anti-virus things, but that didn't work either.
I don't think that is vista's fault....
does it freez on that file all the time??
The original file it froze on was one in that folder (sfx>Maelstrom>Episode 3>Mission 2>E3M2011.mp3 or something like that, now it is a file in that same folder.
Is Vista just not reading the disc properly? I've read some things that said if the disc was a little scratched it wouldn't work, even though it does on XP.
I haven't heard of that issue at all...
I didn't make it!
Try to install the DEMO game and if it runs it is not from Vista. If that error apears again it's from it. P.S. I have Windows 7 and runs justo outside perfect. P.S.S. Sorry for my bad English.
