Whenever I load a new ship the game acts like it doesn't have certain files. -1 reply

I have put several ships into the game using the BCSMC program but they seem to always have the problem of crashing back to desk top when I use them. I know that this is a result of an incomplete set, that is it's missing a file. But I don't know whats wrong with it. I always put all of the scripts, data, and sfx into the main directoery and use to BCSMC to set it up in game. I really don't understand why it's missing all these files. The C2 scimitar doesn't appear in the menu at all, The ticonderosa has weird squares all around it, If I fire torpedos fromthe Tag'Var it crashes the game. The valient has a slot in the federation ships list (which is surpising because I didn't enter it into the menu list yet) and crashes if I game playing with it. Does anyone know why this is happening?

The ticonderosa has weird squares all around it

You need NanoFX Beta to solve that problem

If I fire torpedos fromthe Tag'Var it crashes the game

Your missing torpedo scripts or sumat

have you Installed the 1.1patch

try an install in this order before you install anything else

1.BC...No brainer 2.1.1patch 3.KM1.....thats got pretty much all you need to get other mods working(it also includes NanoFX & Many other Amazing mods) Tho there different Install orders to try out besides that 1 but it is the easiest.

You can also check that all the files are in the right place.

Thanks for the advice. I suspected that I was missing a patch with weapons and textures and stuff that were needed for the ships to work properly but I didn't know what. I did actually check the files to make sure they were in the right place and they seemed to be as far as I could tell. Another thing that bothers me is that the scimitar vessel is not appearing in the ship menu list despite putting it into the game very carefully. I may try reloading stuff later if downloadig all the textures and weapons doesn't help. I also seem to have one really odd glitch that doesn't make any sense at all. When using the TagVar I have noticed that if I am targeting an enemy and I fire it's disruptors it works fine. However, If I shoot them without targeting anything it crashes the game back to desktop. I can understand that using the torpedos would crash it because I may not have that weapon mod in my files, but the normal in game disruptors not working some of the time is really weird.

That is weird. Download Frontiers console tracker. That should help track the source of the error.

Did you reinstall yet like I suggested? Thats important since you have Vista.

I am going to try to re install everything from bridge commander to the BCSMC and foundation as well as the patches. One thing that might help is that I may need to download some of the weapons, effects and texture packs that I might be missing. I would appreciate any suggestions. I still don't know why I can't load the scimitar or the danchu into the ship menu.

Do you have a pluginscript for those ship (found in scripts/custom/ships)? If yes, is the longName value unique in the species menu (as example, you can't have two ships called "Scimitar" in the "Romulan ships"-menu)?

Whow. I just tried this and it completely fixed the scimitar. I am gonna go through as many files as I can to make sure some of the other things are in their proper place. Thanks for the advice, I see what the problem was now. I'll see if the weapons and control systems on the other ships were just missing files as well.

Hmm. Well this is strange. I follow the usual process of installing things into the root directory but when I search for the files they don't appear in them. I can do it manually however, that actually seems to work. Well I think everyones done as much as they can do. I guess the problem is kinda solved. Thanks for the help.:bows:
