[QUOTE=Mad Doc Website] In early 2000 Mad Doc opened its Lawrence, Massachusetts studio, assisting Activision in the successful completion of Star Trek®: Armada™, one of the biggest-selling Star Trek games of all time.
So I guess they helped!
Pain? Pain isn't the half of it...!
The worst thing in the world of A2 is playing 8way Lan game and everyone but you is Borg. Me being a lover of the Fed side accepted the challange... Oh I wish i hadn't!
In the end it was me vs 7 allied players! How can I defend against 11 Fusion Cubes and 6 Tactical Fusion Cubes!!!
THis is an interpretation of how it was like --> :micro:
Death to continous Borg Players!!!
Sadly.. i think ur wrong.. when playing online.. good players don't pick races.. shows more skill to have a random race.. aslo.. the borg suck in a2.. its really easy to stop a fc.. the best way to do it.. is to stop it before its even started.. a2 was more about power over skill... if u had more power.. its easier to win the game.. so as long as u have alot of units and def you'll live.. and everyone knows in a2 theres only a few ships u play with.. and its pretty much the defiants (with mines) and sovies.. those are the only two ships worth having on the fed side.. and if used right.. could be way better then any fc anyone can have
They ruined the game like that. Oh look...A fusion cube. I have to sacrifice not just a few ships...BUT MY WHOLE BASE to kill one. If A3 was to be made they should even out the score. I mean with that, the Borg are invincible... It's just unfair (especially in STA2 tornaments when everyone but you is the borg...)
Well, now we all know how those poor 39 ships felt at Wolf 359. Helpless. Yes, it's hard to destroy a fusion cube, especially when the phasers do 620 damage, but you have to admit, it takes a hell of a long time and a lot of resources to get one built. The main thing is, don't ever play anyone in A2 using unlimited resources or free tech. Use the time to prolong their advancement. Remember, Borg freighters are just as vulnerable as anyone else's. Without resources, not even the Borg can build anything. :naughty: Also, in stock form, there is no provision for the AI to build a fusion cube, so if you play instant action, you'll never see one anyway.
I think the borg should be an unplayable race online. Fair enough, its great fun offline, but its just a pain fighten them online. In the SP mode, when a fussion cube comes along, it like the borg in real life (as I would imagine it would be like in real life :))
I agree about the online play. They should have something set up in the servers that allows a few freinds to get togther as allys and fight the Borg. The Borg would set up as bots, not as human players. But they would have to set them up with realistic Wolf 359 physics, or at least First Contact physics. I just can't accept Voyager Borg physics, that show ruined it for the Borg. As for single player/ instant action, my own personal version of A2 has the Borg building full size, full power cubes, with regeneration(yikes). But at the same time, I've also taken most of their special weapons away, and given the "big four"(card, fed, kli, rom) a lot more special weapons. Because really, that's what's allowed the alpha quandrant species to survive the Borg thus far. Things like anti-matter spread, to temporarily blind a vessel, and so forth. The problem I see in most cases with people trying to fight the Borg and losing, is that they try to go toe to toe with them. You can't. The best strategy is 20-30 ships, a mixture or all different kinds, all with unique special abilities(weapons). When the Federation went to retake DS9 from the Dominion, they didn't send 300 Sovereign class ships, they sent a mixture of all kinds. Even Miranda class! Mirandas are 100 years old! But it's that mixture that enables them to throw off their opponents, especially in a game like Armada 2. If they do come out with an Armada 3, They shouldn't try to make the Borg(or the Dominion) an "equivalant" to the Alpha species. But they should be different, but still balanced. Incidentally, when pitted against each other, my Fed AI(using a juiced up build list) can beat the AI Borg(with it's Daddy cubes) about 30% of the time. Not bad.
