I apologize in advance if this has been answered elsewhere, but I can't seem to grasp the basics of modding the .pyc files. I am attempting to change the statistics of the KM Constitution to make it a little more durable. I've played around with MPE quite a bit, but the changes I've made to the .pyc don't seem to be taking effect in-game. The Constitution is as weak as always. Here is what I am doing in MPE: I open up Enterprise1701.nif . There are six nif files: Fca, FcaLow, FcaMed, Fca_vox, FcaLow_vox, and FcaMed_vox. I open up Fca and it asks me if I want to load a script. I do so, but the hardpoints folder has no .py files. So I ask for a .pyc file in the hardpoints folder instead. I go to Enterprise1701.pyc, and the ship appears. I then click on the "named objects" filter and click on "scene root". The systems of my ship show up in the left-hand window. I then click on Shield Generator/edit property and change the maximum shield rating from 4000 to 20000 (this big jump is just for testing purposes). I then hit save, and it saves a .py file in the hardpoints folder. I go to the game, take my Constitution into battle and... the shields would still seem to be at 4000. What step am I missing here? It's probably something simple, but I'm too new to know what that might be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I guess you saved the file with the name of the nif file.

you have to save it with the same name as the pyc file, but than with PY as extension.

you could also have saved it back again to pyc.

but Pyc is the compiled version of the py file, so if you save the file to py, the enterprise would have better shielding! :)

and if that still did not work, delete the pyc file, careful: backup the pycfile somewhere else ;)

hopes this helps

is the name of the script you're saving exactly matching the name of the pyc already there? (case-sensitive)

Saving the script as EnterpriseNCC1701.py did the trick! The Galor that I tested my new shields on never stood a chance. Now that I can change stats, I can balance ships more properly. Thank you for all your help, guys!
