I just got this in the local bargain bin only to find that, while it seems like a fn game, and while i want to give it a fiar chacne, there seems to be something wrong with the graphics. i dont have this problem with other games i own, but (and this is awkward to explain) where the graphics should show stars or other kinds of spacey glowy effects (such as laser fire, nebula - especailly - planets etc) are surrounded by a very prominent block - as if the graphics didnt work. conseuqently this makes playing the game very difficult because nebulas for instance are just an aossrtment of white squares of varying shades (where the glow fades).

I have a SiS 3000/3050 graphics card which is 32meg and directx compatible with no problems on other games. as far as i know i have the latest drivers (the product site doesnt work, but the card is new). my pc is a p2 400mhz with no other probs.

any help?

if you are running Armada 2 you may just not have enough power. I have a P3 500 system with a brand new NVidia graphics card with 128mb on board memory, and I find it slow at times

the speed of the game isn't the problem, and according to the box i have the minimum requirements comfortably. it only wants a 8meg graphics card, i have 32meg.

If I were you I would go for a reinstall!! It sounds as though the texture files are corrupt or missing!! Are you able to post a screenshot so we can see what you are talking about??

Alt-P = Take a screenshot. Snapshot000.bmp is placed in the "Star Trek Armada II" folder.

That looks more like a graphics card issue rather than my original thought of missing textures. I notice that your brand of graphics card is not listed on the A2 box, thats not necessairly the problem but it may have something to do with it.

Also it appears that your system specs only just scrape into the minimum requirements, maybe that is part of the problem. I know people who have specs well above the minimum that still experience problems, generally due to directx or driver problems.

If, as you say these are all Ok, sorry I don't know what else to do!!

However, it's definetly worth sorting it out if you can, it's a great game!! ;)

Is the amount of ram you have before or after you take 32mb from it? SIS cards are integrated (hence the I). You probably have a motherboard with the video car directly attached (well you do actually) and a sound card probably with it. The easy answer is probably more ram

On review you didn't even say, it seems u missed out an integral piece, good job i had an SIS myself. Little feedback wanted on whether or not u think this is the answer. Test it with, say 64mb compatible ram. That should and will be more than enough. Little feedback wanted please.
