Yeah, it seems like they regressed in gameplay quite a bit. With a lot of modding, you can make gameplay more realistic looking, slow down combat a bit. You could also try lowering the weapon damage down in the Instant Action part of the game. At least then a Sovereign class will last more than a couple seconds. The thing I hate the most is the single ship suicide runs. AI builds one ship, then immediately blasts into high warp straight into where your base is, only to get blown to bits. Then the AI builds another and repeats the cycle, over and over and over.... That's where you have to mod the AI.
you know I think it's time we retire this thread. Yeah it's cool that everyone got to interject their own "what if" scenarios but it all come to the same, short answer; "No, there will be no Armada 3." Sorry if that upsets people but such is life. It's not always fair.
No one's forcing anyone to read these posts. You don't have to come here if you don't want to. But don't play down everyone's ideas like that. A lot of neat ideas have come up in this thread. I'm sure I speak for a lot of people that have posted here, that this thread has been kind of a "brainstorm" for new ideas pertaining to Armada 1 & 2. No we might not ever see an Armada 3, but at least here we've got free reign to swap ideas and keep the subject goin' about modding Star Trek Armada.
i will like to see a new Armada, but that is very dificult. we should see the truth, activision has give us (aka trekkies) 3 years of wonderful games, we have never seen so may games come out in such a litle period. but now, as activision has loose ist rights into tng and voy, we will not see any star trek game for atleast, 2 or 3 years :(
Well, they(Paramount) could be planning to get set up with a different company. It's not unusual for big conglomerates like Paramount & Viacom to suddenly make changes like that. Sometimes it has nothing to do with the actual business relationship that they have with a company like Activision, for whatever reason, they just do it.
All I gotta say is, Star Trek Online is coming in like 1.5 years, and I can't wait. w0oT :smokin:
This may sound far fetched, but is there anyone who knows how to write source code. I mean, since no one has plans to produce STA3, then why doesn't someone here simply write a new source code & put the new game together? You of course would have to get permission to use the logo & such from Paramount etc. But why not? A lot of people are wanting this game. Just a thought.
Permission?? Not if its a non profit venture. Problem with that is your highly unlikely to find someone who would do this for nothing (except perhaps the recognition). Mind you. I am a little surprised that Activision still haven't released A1's source code. Considering how old the game is.
Yeah I don't think there's ever been more than 2 incarnations of any game using the same code and engine. This usually spans a 3-4 year time and by then new game engines are light years ahead of old ones and codes are different. There is no use for the old stuff from a developer standpoint yet you have this "you can have the 6 year year old code when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers," attitude that totally
doubt it!!! but i hope there is and if they do release #3 then (not read all the posts yet so dunno if any1 had already said this) more true to series feel and a multi era mission and progression interface so that u start off before the federation began and then through tos then...well u get the picture.
also if they can make if more like homeworld in the way that u can use the X,Y & Z axis to give it that more 3d feel..
ships have to plentifull and a shuttle launch system is a must and the prometheus mvam would be a welcome addition and the additions of new views for example chase cam and rotating cam so u can watch the battle play out 1st hand
there are a few more things but i just cant be bothered to type any more :D :naughty:
