I downloaded this file from both here (armarda2files.com) and armardafleetcommand. And both versions had TROJANS in them.
TROJAN "UNONE" or "uone" or something like that was detected by Mcafee virus scanner.
I WARN ALL MEMBERS NOT TO DOWNLOAD THIS FILE UNTIL THE POSTER IS MADE RESPONSIBLE! /or this whole matter can be fixed up...
Cos i really really wanted to play this mod
SHAME ON YOU! Concept: Future:thumbsdown:
I have just read this post - (in multiple forums - which is illegal on most forums). Please consider researching the topic before posting scandalous, disreputable remarks in this way. Firstly, you are insinuating that I would put such a trojan in a file which took me years to create and thus risk people not downloading something which I have spent so long in making for the people of this community - "shame on me"?. This makes no sense at all, why would I sabotage my first complete attempt at creating a mod for anyone who plays armada2? Secondly, if you took the time to research the problem before submitting these fallacious remarks, you would find that this problem was the result of something nothing at all to do with viruses. On the McAfee site i searched for the 'unone' virus and found that "The 4339 dat files are incorrectly identifying files from Clickteam as the Unone trojan". I used the Clickteam installer to make this download. - http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=description&virus_k=101117 Haryous in this forum - http://www.gamingforums.com/showthread.php?t=116751 - has also scanned the file and found nothing. I will not make the mistake of using this installer again, however there is no trojan virus in this mod. I have used Symantec Norton AntiVirus to scan this file on my machine numerous times with the most recent virus definitions and have found nothing. Also I have downloaded the file from Armada2files.com and have scanned that, there was no Trojan virus. If I am, however unlikely it may be, wrong - anyone who has actually found a virus please email me. However since I have checked the file many times, downloaded from every site I have uploaded it to and scanned it copious amount, this seems unlikely. Please desist from writing any misleading, erroneous, deceptive lies. I will be contacting the administrator conceptfuture@yahoo.co.uk www.geocities.com/conceptfuture
Janus. Do you realise that Concept Future could sue your ass off if he felt it necessary, or do you not know what the word "slander" means?? CF. I've downloaded your mod myself and found nothing, and it was scanned with NAV and checked with the latest version of Spybot S&D.
Now I suggest you be VERY careful how you respond to this.
Janus I advice you check your antivirus software before making such alliagations I have Lancer Antivirus (which is equall if not better than Mcaffe) and it didn't find anything.
I dont know which Mcaffee he is using cause i found nothing on it with my mcaffee
I downloaded it and installed it... norton 2002 didnt pick up anything...
i found this on another website, apparently this Trojan is a fault in McAfee
but anyway here are the links, apparently one of the updates falsly detected Clickteam installers as trojans. (i'm not trying to advertise any thing, just showing another place where this has happened :))
I only noticed this when i looked on the armada2files.com website, i just thought that i'd better post this just incase. I don't post here much because i lost the link ages ago :)
Look future concept, i am sorry, i over reacted. I knew you wouldn't put a torjan purposely in your mod, that is why i said... "or this whole matter can be fixed up", i was just saying, IF you did, then i said shame on you, but i was hoping we could find out why my brius scanner picked up a trojan in your mod, i believe you, but my scanner i don't know, where it got trojan from... Sorry if i have offened you Yours Janus
Janus. Its common knowledge that with alot of programs (games especially), it is usually suggested in the ELU that comes with the game that you disable any anti-virus software. I've not had it happen myself but I think it depends on the settings in the installer. You would have thought that by now these Virus software companies would have done a bit of homework themselves especially considering how long Clickteams been around for.
