ok, so i got temple guardian and i assume its working ok cos it says its running the prog in jk2
i went to bed last night thinking i was nice and safe now, but when i checked the server this morning the rconpassword had been changed to "123"
i really dont think any1 could guess the password so any thoughts any1?
You don't need to guess the rcon password, an easy exploit exposes it, which is why you should be changing it daily as well as running the latest version of TG (currently .3) to cut down on these attacks. It's like medicine, we release a new TG, exploiters come up with something new. The best thing you can do is look in your logs, get the IP of the exploiter, trace it, contact his ISP to have his account terminated and file a complaint with his local police and follow up on it. If people just rely on tools like TG then it's a lost cause - you need to strike at the cause of the problem, not the symptoms and take out some of the hackers. If we all grepped logs once a day and zapped a hacker a day, it won't be long before some of these punks lose their accounts and get in trouble with the law and the flood will slow down.
thanks mate :)
i am using your Temple Guardian which is v nice of u
i wasnt aware of the probs u mentioned, i presume these hacks are from within jk2 cos i tested my general security from a friends comp and i am safe but i will change the password daily as recommended
our clan has a problem with a hacker, we have temple of guardian and he never gets kicked. he says he uses static ip. can anyone help us?
First, you're using an out-of-date version (from the private mail you sent me.) I'd update it to .3 until JA 1.6 comes along (just finished beta testing it for JO so will be soon.)
Second, you can add his static IP to the ban list using the addip command.
well we try but he keeps coming back, and how can we tell his static ip?
