Hey,

I was just wondering how I might set it up so that I can run a dedicated server, and then join it and still be able to switch maps, kick people, that kind of thing. 'Cause it takes forever for people to join games. I figure it'd be cool to just leave on going for hours and hours at a time, and then just join it when I feel like playing. But people are often jerks, or just plain stupid, and sometimes maps and map cycles get boring, so I'd like to still have the power to change that.

Also, on a semi-unrelated matter, sometimes I start a saber only game, and then after a while, I want to switch to guns. Is there a consol command to make all the guns spawn regularly, mid-game, or by just restarting the map? That'd be really handy.

Anyway, thanx for any help I can get in advance.:cya:

When you load JK2 MP, click on the "Create a Server" option.

Select any map you wish.. set any settings you want to (though not really necessary but just set them anyway ;)) Then BEFORE you click on the "create" button, look for an option which says "dedicated". Switch that to say "Internet". THEN click on the 'create' button.

What will happen is JK2 will close and go to that black console you see in the beginning when JK2 loads. This is the 'server console'. As long as this server console window is open, your server will remain running. When you want to play in your own server, start JK2 again (LEAVE the server console running! Open a second JK2MP) and hten find your server in the list.. and connect to it. Treat it like any normal server.. disconnect whenever you want to.. the server will always remain on as long as the server console is running.

I also highly recommend setting an rcon password for your server. Read more about it here: http://www.jk2files.com/file.stuff?body=FAQ#17 It tels you how to change maps using the rcon... and other settings.
