I had that same problem... except Direct X ( crapped out my grapchics card. Your only thing (that I could figure out) was to un-install Direct X 9... :borg:

if u reinstall 8 it will still crap out on you. FIrst, get 8 again and hold on to it. After go to My Computer, C drive (or wherever direct 9 is)and look for the directx folder. click it and delte. After restart ur comp and reinstall direct 8. after restart. Ur comp should be fine but u may need to reinstall ur driver for ur video card (like i did).

Ps. Direct 9 is at the microsft site. :borg:

will there not be fragments left after u delet it form ur comp via c drive.

go to microsoft.com or something and look for troubleshooting or something .im sure theres a way to fix it without down-grading it.

As far as I know (and in my own personal experience), DirectX is completely uninstallable. The only way to get rid of it is to reformat (which is what I had to do). It won't overwrite by installing another version because in most cases it doesn't overwrite all the DX9 files.

Still, try whatever you can but most likely you'll have to reformat to get rid of it.

Another thing you can *try* doing (do this at your own risk) is install Windows over your current Windows. Theoretically it should just replace your C:/Windows folder and thus remove DX9 while saving the rest of your files. Do this only if a reformat is your only option because you'll have nothing to lose then ;)

When you got your latest drivers, did you check to see if they're DX9 compatible? If they aren't, try looking for one that is. Or, wait for a bit to see if any DX 9 compatible drivers come out..
