I am behind a router but I have opened all the ports on the router so I can host a JK2 game but my friends cant see me. So I unhooked from the router plugged into the cable modem directly, cold booted my machine, reset the modem and tried again. Still neither of my 3 friends could see the game I was hosting. I had them try to find me by "player name" that didnt work either. We all have the newest 1.04 patch so that isnt the problem. I asked if one of my friends would host the game (he doesnt even know what a router is much less own one) and we couldnt see his games either. So I asked another friend to try an host a game but we couldnt see him either. We had the list set on "internet" games, we refreshed the server list, and told it to get "new server list" and still we cant see each other. The three of us are very frustrated with this whole thing. None of us have ever seen a problem like this on any other game. I think it is strange that 3 different people with 3 different computers cant host or see each other. PLEASE HELP! :(
Ok I had a problem similar to that. Check to see if your IP changed. Because for some reason, my IP changed and my friends could not see me anymore. I just told them the new one and they found me.
To get your IP in case you don't know how, open a DOS window or a command prompt window. In my windows it's open the run command from the start menu and type dosprmpt then type ipconfig and you should see your IP adress.
Then give it to your friends and tell them to enter that in add favorites for the multiplayer game. Your server should come up.
Hope that solves your problem.
make sure its a dedicated server. make it internet. hope tht helped if the other guys didnt.
go in the server & type "sv_master2 master0.gamespy.com", that will send your server to the gamespy master server list. Also type "heartbeat" to send it to the server, wait a few minutes & the server should show up on any gamespy list.
the raven master server is set as master server 1 by default, when you type heartbeat it will send to it as well.
