Please Help...skinning Problem I have just started to go through the skinning tutorial on theforce.net site. I have gotten to week two and am in the process of trying to change the hands to black. It says to use Galak's hands...since they are already black and copy them to the existing hands of the model. (I am using Jasc Paint Shop Pro trial version) I did this but when I go to save it a message pops up and says the following: "Because of the limitations of the specified file format (and possibly the save options you've selected), the saved file will be limited to a merged image. Would you like to continue?" The tutorial tells me to go into Modview and open up the file and click the TEX icon or hit (alt R) and the skin will refresh with the new black gloves...but when I try to do this a message pops up saying: "R_LoadImage(): Could'nt read image: "textures/common/caps.jpg" ...continue receiving this message for this model?"

I don't understand what I am doing wrong...I am following exactly what the tutorial says to do...at least I think I am doing exactly what it says...CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME?!?

THANKS, anakinskywalker9

I have found that this is my main problem:

The tutorial tells me to go into Modview and open up the file and click the TEX icon or hit (alt R) and the skin will refresh with the new black gloves...but when I try to do this a message pops up saying: "R_LoadImage(): Could'nt read image: "textures/common/caps.jpg" ...continue receiving this message for this model?"

...I have also found that the preceding error message comes up in the Modview program on any model I open up...not just the new one that I am trying to alter but ALL of them...does anyone have any ideas??

THANKS, anakinskywalker9

All u have to do is ignore that message, as u said it appears on any model.glm u load. As for the message in paint shop pro it has no effect on the skin if u click "yes" to save it, it will appear ok in the model u are editing.

Thanks for the reply...but even when I ignore the message in the Modview program and press the TEX icon...it should load up the black hand/s or modify whatever I modified...but it doesn't...any ideas??

...Also, do I hit yes or no to ignore the Modview error message?

Thanks, anakinskywalker9

I always click "no", as for the refresh thing i dont know what the tex icon is, i simply go to "file" and then choose the "refresh model" option. And make sure that the modified skin is on the Gamedata/base/models/players just were the humanoid.glm file is ok ? Hope it helps
