hello again, the converters i downloaded are of no help. the problem is that the Q3 engine allows only a certain no of surfaces to exist on a brush. how on earth can one have terrains in a map then cause the ones i am talking about are huge!!!!

Hmm...your converter is saving the entire .3ds to one brush? You might have to edit the .3ds into smaller bits and convert one at a time. I hope that is of help; I don't know what else you could do.
