i hav a great idea for a SP co-op mod. This would allow you to play through the SP missions with 2+ people. The only problem is i dont hav the faintest idea about how to do n e of it. If n e one would like to attempt this mod you can contact me at Jetfuel27@netscape.net i think this would really put a new spin on SP. If n e one knos how to make mods please contact me so we can get this off and going.

The one problem with this, wich would put meny people off making this mod, is the fact that turning exsisting SP missions into 2 Player Co-Op missions is impossible. There is only one spawn point on each SP level, and the script would be incorrect, One player could trigger an event (like enter enginering on the the Sixth Mission (voy3.map) wich would leave the other on the over side, causing a catastrophy for the script.

I Like the idea, but a totaly new SP Mission would have to be created. Seeing as this will take a good year to get anywere near out of beta, And EF2 nerly relesed (Yea!) There is little hope of anyone making this.

Not to get me wrong, i love the idea, i just thaught to let you know that the idea is a little far-feched. Maybe for EF2 if the Q3 engine can handle it??

Anyhoo, If anyone has any ideas that may make this possible, please post, i like this idea to...

Dance  For EF2!!! (totaly off-topic lol)

it would b a better idea for EF2 but could we just mess with the script and the spawnpoints? like say they both have to be in the same area for the trigger to happen. wouldnt it just b a matter of messing with the script? also making a new SP mission might not b a bad idea. but you are right it would take a long time.

Ok, I am no modder but I have come up with a plan for you code and anyone who wishes to participate in this project. (LOL, I suppose I am part of it as code and I came up with the idea). Well screw elite force 1 because it will be to late... when EF2 comes out, redo all the SP missions and scripts so its built for coop missions, like leave it exactly the same but make it so that you CAN have the other characters in the game set as bots OR actual players.

I have the basic idea for modding because Im a website designer and the stuff is quite similar to PHP and things to that effect.. but im not good enough to take on something to this magnitude... Code and myself's clan is basically a GD/GT (Game develope/Game Terrain)clan, all we do is make maps and scripts etc... so we are trying to learn to mod. BTW Im not trying to recruit, although it would be nice, im explaining our situation.

So if no one could help us out, could ya point us to some modding tutorials so we can get an idea on what to do?

Scripting is Nothing Like PHP-My SQL or any other form of HTML language.

And if you did change the scripts, you would NOT be able to create new spawn point.

Messing with the script is a bit of a funny issue.

Yes, you could change the script so only things happen when two people are there, how reliable this would be, I don't know.

There are only ONE spawn points in the MAP, and this is not changable, because this is "mapped" into the map when you create it in Radient (Info_Player_Start). The only option is to take all of ravens .MAP files, Edit them (that will take years) then make the mod WITH the new maps. This is practicly Downlaoding the game. 80MB is a LONG time on broadband/cable, so they won't like it, and its not worth looking at for us 56K'rs, becuase the average download time is... Five Days and 8 hours (work it on a calculator). And for broadband users, just half it, so it would take 3 days and two hours And thats a BIG download.

And even if you were mad enough to do this, you would have to wait years for ritual to relese the .maps, IF they relese the .maps.

Sorry.

The download time is not totally true... we will only be redoing the maps and scripts.. no textures or sounds.. As for the redo time, it depends on how many workers you have to complete tasks.. so far our team is 3.. I know how to do scripting and mapping, code knows how to map and the third is in the process of being trained to do both. We hope to recruit someone who already knows how to mod and if possible teach us.. if not we will learn how ourselves (The best way).

This is all still in a hypothetical state, we are not "LETS GO!" its more of a "What If?". All we need is a tutorial or a guide... anything to show us into modding.

What I ment by similar, is the principal is the same.. the brackets and stuff, Ive briefly looked over the source code.. Im aware the codes are not the same.

Btw, theres nothing wrong with being alittle crazy. After all, are you normal?

and if they dont release there maps, we make our own SP version of the game.

Well, i admire your ambition.

I won't burst your bubble, I hope you get this mod in to a working plan. Infact, any Mapping you need doing, i will be only to happy to help, and any questions you have about mapping or ICARUS scripting, i will lend you a hand.

And the download was exagurated by a day or two, but you get the picture LMAO

Thanks! This is still just a thought. We need to know how to mod or get a modder first before we can even continue to plan the situation. After all, even if we cant do this... Its nice to have another skill under your belt and perhaps we will do something else that would be really cool for the game.

Hey, I dont know if anyone has played a game called Klingon Honor Guard But what they did to create a multiplayer coop game was they took all of the levels and cut out the cinematics and any cut scenes that may be there. But the difference is that Ef1 is not set up for coop by any means , the levels in KHG were all layed out and able to edit with the unreal editor and it was easy to make maps and all.So if some how you could cut out the cut scenes and cinematics there might be more of a chance but it would take at the least 8-9 months. If anyone knows more about what I have said, e-mail me at jap2532002@juno.com

I can have all of voyagers cut scenes out in a week, i have the origonal uncompiled .maps.

BUT, it would be rubbish to the story without cut scenes, Thats why i rather we re-programed it to only trigger when both players are at the trigger_spawn
