each time i trie to export a model to EF MD3 it says i need a anm file. now ive heard that when u import it milkshape is meant to create this file in the directory you imported the file from but i can find it. can anybody help me?

The anm file is created when importing an MDR file, not an MD3. So make sure that you are indeed opening an MDR :)

Also, if you can't find the file, just search your computer for a *.anm and see if it turns up..

im trying to replace the weapons and if i inport a quake3 MD3 and modify it the go to export it it asks me to save as MD3 the asks me to open the Elite force storage file .anm and the only .anm's i have are upper and lower body parts not weapons

Because the weapon models do not originate in mdr format, only md3, you will not get generate an .anm file. Use the Quake3 md3 exporter instead. EF uses md3 models as well.

the quake3 exporter says it cant find a controll file for whatever name i save it as any help there?

In one of the menu's at the top (Maybe "Tools") find an option which says "Generate Control File" (might be under a Quake III sub-menu).

It'll ask you for a filename (give it the same name as your model's filename. eg. my_model.ms3d and my_model.qc) It'll then pop up Notepad with the .qc file open. Edit any paths in there for textures and things (like models/weapons/blah/blah.jpg) for each model group. Save the .qc file

Now try exporting.
