I recently started working on a map based off of a previous one that I had made.

When I've gone into EF to test the map out, often you can not see the weapons fire. Almost always you can see the phaser but usually nothing else. Also, there is no scaring on surfaces from weapons fire.

The .map file that I'm working on was from a previous map that I made and had no such problems with that map.

I am performing the same type of compile as always and am even using the same textures as before.

The only thing that has changed since that last map was that I did reload my system a couple weeks ago but if anything it is working better than before.

Has anyone had this problem when making a map?

ummm.. stupid question, but, does your map have lights? :D

A screenshot might help also.

Also, when you load your map, open the console and see if there are any errors in there (in yellow or red)

Well I could put up a screenshot if you really want one but I don't see the point when it is something that isn't being seen.

All surfaces are there, all entities show up but effects are missing such as weapons fire & some sound.

The map that I'm having this problem with is based off of Hazard Station Alpha, a map I previously released. I used the same .map file and just started modifying it a bit (changed some brushes around, added a few, removed a few).

I could see if I had a leak or HOM issue but this just seems a bit odd.

I realize this is an old post but I was going through my bookmarks and found a link to this thread.

Just in case anyone ever encountered this issue. Turns out a few things can cause this. This particular time, I believe it was a bad custom texture. Although I had this exact thing happen again on a completely different map I was working on. That time, an entity overload (the engine will only allow for so many entities and once you start getting over 500 total entities, you start encountering some issues).
