ChrisMunroeActivision can't do anything if you alter the code for personal use, only if you sell it for profit w/o permission. Besides, I think the source code belonged to Taldren, who programmed it; Activision was only the publisher. And Taldren closed down! And another thing: Activison rushed taldren to release the game pre-Nemesis, so Taldren couldn't do eveything they wanted: the Cardassians & Species 8472 were ment to be in the game: THEY WEREN'T (except for in the Dominion wars mod). ALL races were ment to be playable: THEY WEREN'T!
Here's the funny part, on page 38 of the game manual it says on the last paragraph, ''Additional star empires such as the Borg Collective and Cardassian Union may oppose your efforts in Conquest mode.'' They're in the manual!! Oh, and if anybody is able to change the ''source code'' to where you can play more than 6 ships at a time, please tell us!
ChrisMunroe Since the SFC3 Gamers are not a big, multinational corporation like Craptivision, the court rules in favor of Craptivision, as always, the big guy with the best lawyers (anmd who bribed some jury members) always wins.
Then I say: "Brothers of Star Trek UNITE!!!" together we will take down Craptivision and we WILL have a SFC4:deal: with ALL the features and races in the game(not just in the manual)
We could always look for a judge that's a diehard trekkie. :-D

A possible solution is make the shuttles into ships. You can change the shuttle hull to FF, DD,CA etc. Then mod the shuttle traits, add armor weapons arcs etc. point the UI to the Akira model. The fastest way is too copy and paste the Akira line in both DeafaultCore and DefaultLOadout Files. Delete the Shuttle entry for Feds. Then paste in the Akira entry. Then you need to rename FedCruiser2 to Shuttle in both lines. Back up files 1st. Do this for all races shuttles. Then launching of a shuttle launches a ship instead. The draw back is the AI. In skirmish it only launches shuttles when your hull is at 50%. Though in conquest mode the AI seems to launch 1 shuttle early, but only 1 even if it has 6. I described this all from memory, so hope I didn't leave out anything. For an example check out the Assimilation mod. Its only a 1MB download. Don't install it(its not for latest patch), just look at the shuttle lines. They make the shuttle have shields and armor. Or maybe I left out armor. Was a while ago. Anyway it shows a shuttle modded to behave more like an FF, though in this case no weapons were added. The Assimilation mod is just a mini-mod. I am almost finished with the Rise of KIngdoms mod that will have 3 different shuttle classes. Shuttles, Fighters and Psuedo Fighters. The shuttles have shields, no armor and 2 primaries. The fighters have armor, no shields, 2 primaries and 1 heavy. The PF's have armor and shields, 3 primaries and 2 heavies. I am adjusting the shuttle quanity to balance the different types. A DN with shuttles will carry 5. A DN with fighters will carry 4 and a DN with PF's will carry 2. The shuttles will be able to drop mines as well.
