Hi everyone, I'm quite new to modding SFC3 and I've got problems with editing weapon hardpoints. I know you have to edit this file: \Sfc3\Assets\Models\Shipname\Shipname.gf but I dont know what to do exactly. I want to know the following things: - How to add a hardpoint to a ship, how could you know the coordinates? - How could you change the firing arcs of hardpoints? - How should you specify the difference between primary/heavy weapon hardpoints? - What other files do you need to edit? - Do I need to know anything else? Greetingz

[QUOTE2=Mr Cheese]- How to add a hardpoint to a ship, how could you know the coordinates?[/QUOTE2] You'll need D'Deridex's hardpoint editor- http://www.nightsoft.net/downloads....FLEET%20COMMAND [QUOTE2= Mr Cheese]- How could you change the firing arcs of hardpoints? - How should you specify the difference between primary/heavy weapon hardpoints?[/QUOTE2] In the DefaultCore file found in your specs folder (C:\Program Files\Activision\Sfc3\Assets\Specs), the hardpoints should read like this (PrimaryHP:1:240_60:2:330_150:3:240_120:4:330_150:5:210_30:6:60_240:7:120_300 HeavyHP:12:300_60:13:300_60:14:300_60) In bold is the part that determines whether or not it is a primary or heavy. The arc number (:1:240_60) tells which one your editing. The arc itself (:1:240_60) determines which direction it will fire in. Use the attatchment to help you to know which arcs are capatable with the game. Hope this helps. P.S. I think I'll develop a spec edit guide of my own..... sometime.

Thanks! I've got one more question: how to edit the hardpoints which are shown ingame, at the image of your ship?

Don't worry, the hardpoint editor does it all. D'Deridex did an excellent job with it.

some of the arcs don't work in my game (like 300_60 or 270_90). Do I need to install a patch or something to make the arcs work???

Yep, but I'd suggest the latest version, v534_b: http://starfleetcommand3.filefront.com/file.info?ID=28800

Hey Greenvalv,

What would be really nice is if you could create a program similar to Shipedit, but for SFC3. There was CoreEdit, but it never made it out of the early beta stages. If any computer programmers are out there, and reading this, hint hint, try to make a program that allows you to make and edit ship specs and put them in game.

I've got the greatest idea for a SFC3 spec edit program. Only one problem, I dunno nuthin' 'bout programing. But if I could, I would.
