Greetings, I am curious if there is a program similar to one I found for SW: Galactic Battlegrounds that will install any ship into the game. Call me lazy or crazy and I might agree, but I am curious as for some reason I have no luck adding ships that you have to edit the defaultload and what have you. Just wondering if anyone knows of anything. Thanks, FallenPhoenix

There is no program. you just have to edit the DefaultloadOut and DefaultCore. Use the Guide to Customising SFC3 located here: http://starfleetcommand3.filefront.com/file/A_Guide_to_Customizing_Starfleet_Command_III;40101 It should help.

Someone ATTEMPTED to make a program for it, but it royally sucked. The best way to do it is follow the tutorials in the guide.

Actually, he never finished it, recent news is that he's taking an interest in completing it.

There are a few logistical problems associated with making an install file for ships. 1. Not all ships are created equal. Some have .exe installers already (which tend to remove any previously added ships) that just replace the defaultcore and defaultloadout files with new ones. Some are just .zip files that you need to extract in varying directories. 2. That being said, an installer would need to be able to add ships to the DC and DL files without removing previously added ships. This can be tricky programming-wise, being that these files can vary greatly user to user, and writing a program that always inserts the ships in the right place is nearly impossible. The only way to do this would be to add the specs and loadouts at the end of each file. However, this couldn't be done with the shipnames file, because each races ships' have to be in a certain section. 3. The code would be difficult, but not impossible. It would probably require the exclusive use of the installer to install ships.

There are only two ships that I know of that are in EXE installers.

2. That being said, an installer would need to be able to add ships to the DC and DL files without removing previously added ships. This can be tricky programming-wise, being that these files can vary greatly user to user, and writing a program that always inserts the ships in the right place is nearly impossible. However, this couldn't be done with the shipnames file, because each races ships' have to be in a certain section.

That couldn't be done because even in the official patch it must have the original stock specs to replace completely with the updated specs.

3. The code would be difficult, but not impossible. It would probably require the exclusive use of the installer to install ships.

Actually, a program that you could edit specs quickly with would be good, however I can't see it being able to stuff the specs into the DLO & DC. Also what if the ClassName (Fed-Frigate, etc) is already taken by another ship you've previously installed. This would be more trouble than it's worth.
