I have a problem installing large file size downloaded mods. For example TNG Mega Mod. After I dopwnloaded it, I start the installation. Then I encounter crc errors during the installation and I have to start over again and again. These crc errors appear while installing other large sized downloads.
How can I download these large files without crc errors?
1. how much ram do you have 2. how big is the file 3. how big is your hard drive 4. of X about of space on your hard drive how much is free if u can answer these i will be better able to help you, all i can say now is a CRC created with a bad extraction or when the mod was compiled there was a errer im compressing it to start off with.
Here are the answers: 1. I have 512 Mbyte DDR RAM 2. TNG Mega Mod single file is 302 Mbyte. 3. I have a 60 Gbyte sized winchester 4. I have 30 Gbyte free space.
I encounter this crc problem with most of the large files. For example from 200 Mbyte to 600 Mbyte and with extracted files, or installers.
what is your virtual mem set at.
since 300*1.5=450-512=62mb left and XP takes about 300 so working the numbers agen 62-300=-238mb so look and see if your vrtual mem is set to minamum @ 500-1000mb that will expand your ram but also take up 1 gb of disk space.
and this should alow you to open/extract large files.
Where can I look and set virtual memory? I have WIN98 SE as operating system.
right click on my computer and advance then proformance(click settings) new window then in there should be a virtual memory area and a button change click it and cahnge the setting so the small number is 500 big one 1000
I changed the virtual memoriy minimum to 500 and maximum to 1000. I downloaded again the TNG MegaMod, about 300 Mbyte. I started to install it, ang I got a crc error during the installation, so the same problem as before. How can I get this problem solved?
