When I select Single/Multiple Payer>Single Player and as soon as I click Start after adding 1 AI I get an Exception error in d3d8.dll I'm not sure if XPSP2 has caused this but I have disabled FireWall thinking this was the fault but no luck. Any ideas or is there another patch on the way? Mark Unhandled Exception! in Version 1.01 Build 534 SFC3.exe caused an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module d3d8.dll at 001B:6DA4BA20 EAX=00000000 EBX=00000334 ECX=0853912C EDX=0149C000 ESI=00000400 EDI=01498CC0 EBP=000003FA ESP=0012FBDC EIP=6DA4BA20 FLG=00210297 CS=001B DS=0023 SS=0023 ES=0023 FS=003B GS=0000 001B:6DA4BA20 (0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000) d3d8.dll

If you have XP Service Pack 2, then that's your problem. Uninstall it.

No need to uninstall XP SP2...

Righ-Click on the SFC3.EXE and select properties. Go to the Compatibility tab and select the "Disable Visual Themes" option. Launch SFC3.EXE....All should be well.

SP2 CAN be a problem IF you installed it from WindowsUpdate.com. You need to do a search on Microsoft.com downloads for the IT version. it's 230 megs roughly, and it's the full install of SP2. It won't screw up your computer. Disabling visual themes works sometimes, but not always. You can try it and see. Also, delete your AllScripts.cache file everytime you crash.

Yep, I get an even bigger crash dump ever since "upgrading" with the patch: Unhandled Exception! in Version 1.01 Build 534 SFC3.exe caused an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module TAL3DEngineR.DLL at 001B:02826BBE EAX=00000000 EBX=0013D7CB ECX=0013D794 EDX=7C90EB94 ESI=02D120A0 EDI=02000001 EBP=0013D7AC ESP=0013D798 EIP=02826BBE FLG=00010246 CS=001B DS=0023 SS=0023 ES=0023 FS=003B GS=0000 001B:02826BBE (0x0089039A 0x00000020 0x0089039A 0x02000001) TAL3DEngineR.DLL 001B:0282730F (0x0089039A 0x00000020 0x0089039A 0x02000001) TAL3DEngineR.DLL 001B:77D48734 (0x028272D3 0x0089039A 0x00000020 0x0089039A) USER32.dll, MonitorFromRect()+0003 byte(s) 001B:77D48816 (0x00000000 0x028272D3 0x0089039A 0x00000020) USER32.dll, MonitorFromRect()+0229 byte(s) 001B:77D4B4C0 (0x01281998 0x00000020 0x0089039A 0x02000001) USER32.dll, CallMsgFilterW()+0690 byte(s) 001B:77D4B50C (0x0013D8EC 0x00000018 0x01281998 0x00000020) USER32.dll, CallMsgFilterW()+0766 byte(s) 001B:7C90EAE3 (0x0013D980 0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000) ntdll.dll, LdrUnloadAlternateResourceModule()+0434 byte(s) 001B:77D49402 (0x0013D980 0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000) USER32.dll, AdjustWindowRectEx()+0310 byte(s) 001B:77D5E1A9 (0x004903D4 0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000) USER32.dll, GetWindowTextLengthA()+0727 byte(s) 001B:77D561C6 (0x77D40000 0x00152380 0x00000000 0x77D69FEE) USER32.dll, LookupIconIdFromDirectoryEx()+0940 byte(s) 001B:77D6A92E (0x0013DDE4 0x00000000 0xFFFFFFFF 0x00000001) USER32.dll, GetKeyboardLayoutNameA()+1864 byte(s) 001B:77D6A294 (0x0013DDE4 0x00000028 0x00000000 0x00000000) USER32.dll, GetKeyboardLayoutNameA()+0174 byte(s) 001B:77D95FBB (0x00000000 0x00177CC0 0x00178AB0 0x00000030) USER32.dll, IsHungAppWindow()+0153 byte(s) 001B:77D96060 (0x00000000 0x0013DEC8 0x028BD978 0x00000030) USER32.dll, IsHungAppWindow()+0318 byte(s) 001B:77D80577 (0x00000000 0x0013DEC8 0x028BD978 0x00000030) USER32.dll, TrackPopupMenuEx()+27472 byte(s) 001B:77D8052F (0x00000000 0x0013DEC8 0x028BD978 0x00000030) USER32.dll, TrackPopupMenuEx()+27400 byte(s) 001B:02876B40 (0x70736964 0x6C6C642E 0x00700000 0x00000000) TAL3DEngineR.DLL And yes, I disabled the visual themes - no affect. Also, when it gets done crashing it drops my entire computer from 32 bit graphics down to 16 bit. Any clues as to why it's doing that, too?

make sure you have the latest version of DirectX, also update your video drivers. Lastly, delete that damn AllScripts file, that will run you in circles forever
