Hello,

I installed the game and had the same DirectX problem so I applied the patch but now I just encountered a new problem, where the computer restarts itself when I launch the first mission but I don't know what to do to fix it. Is there someone outhere that may know what the problem is and how to fix it?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

llavi01

I think you misunderstand. The Beta Patch is a 'beta' or test version of the official patch for sfc3 (which is still yet to be released) which will fix a number of bugs in the game.

When installing the Beta Patch (or indeed the DirectX Patch) you should first run a clean install of the game. Uninstall the game, delete the remaining folder (usually C:\Program Files\Activision\Sfc3\) and reinstall the game. Then install either the DirectX Patch or the Beta Patch (which includes the DirectX patch). If you want to retain your saved campaigns, move the 'Saves' folder out before deleting the Sfc3 folder then move it back in after installing the patch.

A further note to this: there is now a new patch out. It is identified as 'Build 531'. The instructions say to install it after the Beta Patch (Build 500) so don't get the two confused.
