I've read in some sites that Kyle's lightsabre was green. Pictures of the Dark Force 2 game showed likewise.
If I am correct, Kyle gave his lightsabre to Luke Skywalker. Shouldn't that lightsabre be green?
However, when Kyle returned to obtain his sabre, he got a blue one.
I've never played the first 2 Jedi Knight games, so I do not know what happened.
Please tell me why.

I did play the original Jedi Knight & MotS games (not to the end of SP though) & I think his lightsaber was closer to yellow, a light green perhaps, but I still think it was yellow. That's a good observation I never noticed that before.

The order of the lightsabers that he had are:
Green first: Rahns lightsaber then this lightsaber was destroyed by Bok,
Yellow second: Yuns lightsaber Taken after Yun died,
Blue third: I have NO idea! Why has this color changed?
Hope this helps

Kyle Kataran: 1st Lightsabre (Jedi Master Rahn's) Affiliation: Jedi Originally owned by the supposed Jedi Master Rahn, it was acquired by his friend Morgan Kataran following his death. After Morgan's death Rahn led Kyle to the saber in a dream. Hidden in the family droid, Weegee was Rahn's lightsaber and a message from his father Morgan, leading Kyle to the Valley of the Jedi. Unfortunately it was destroyed by the Dark Jedi, Boc.
Kyle Kataran: 2nd Lighsabre (Dark Jedi Yun's) Affiliation: Jedi Originally owned by the Dark Jedi Yun, he was killed defending the right of a Jedi to battle to earn a death for Kyle. After having his lightsaber destroyed Kyle used it to defend himself against the Dark Jedi, Sariss. After the battle, Kyle took Yun's lightsaber for his own.
Kyle Kataran: 3rd Lightsabre (His own constructed one) Affiliation: Jedi Knight In keeping with the traditions of the Jedi. Kyle build this lightsaber and is with him today.

There were more than just three lightsabers for Kyle.
1st lightsaber: (Dark Forces 2)Color: Green. Jedi Master Rhan, who gave it to his friend Morgan Katarn. Morgan passed the lightsaber to his son through WeeGee. The lightsaber was destroyed by Boc.
2nd lightsaber: (Dark Forces 2) Color: Yellow. Dark Jedi Yun, who gave his life to allow Kyle to battle the Dark Jedi Sariss. Kyle still has this one.
3rd lightsaber: (Mysteries of the Sith.)Color: Orange. Kyle's own lightsaber, which he built himself. Possibly still has it or lost it at the Sith Temple.
4th lightsaber: (Jedi Outcast) Color: Blue. Another lightsaber built by Kyle, possibly long before he gave it to Luke, maybe after his visit to the Sith Temple.
Perhaps... Luke accidentally broke Kyle's lightsabre? And pretended nothing has happened. That's why he set up all those obstacles, so Kyle would be too tired to notice his lightsabre's different.
Oh, try this:
In the jedi academy cutscene, whereby Kyle was talking to Luke, and Luke explained about Desann 'thinking the others were too weak.', wait till Luke said 'Good Luck', then, use 'npc kill all' to kill Luke and Kyke.
It's quite funny. "Good luck... Arghhhh!"
But because the characters are dead, the cutscenes would just stop where it is, and become no-abortable. A Cutscene character is not the same as the character you control... maybe they've something in them that will not work properly if they die (like a transition code from Cutscene-Char to Player-Char? With a character dead, this code would not be executed? I assume so, since once Kyle dies [if he dies], there is no need for him to be revived, and the cutscene might end just there, and the game as well.)
