I'd have to look at the scene again but if I remember after Maul and Qui-Gon went through the last barrier it never opened agian till like a minute after Qui-Gon was struck down and Maul was taunting Obi-Wan through the barrier. I might be wrong since I haven't watched it latley but I think that would be the reason (if I'm right).
i wasn't talking about that scene. i'm talking about the way from the point he jumps up to that 'walkway' from a lower level (he got kicked down by maul(which looked like it hurt a lot)) to the first barrier were Qui-gon and maul are fighting. and at that time i don't think maul could influence obi-wn since he was quiet busy fightin qui-gon.
well i dont think freaked out is the right term as hes been through alot like that. id say the best explination is that he was still young and unexperienced, but when he was with qui on the fed's ship he was in sybosis with qui so he could use the force more redily.
one other thing is that qui-gon knew that the energy fileds were there and that it would prollie couse seperation. y didnt he avoid it maybe do some jumping over the sith man er something.
I just rewatched the scene and finally I don't have to guess about what exactly happened in the scene. I belive that obi-wan may have been too weak with the force (not saying they have a mana pool like in jk2) after he made that like two level jump from where Maul kicked him to making him unable to run to the barriers to catch up.
Yep that would be a way that jedi have to 'recover' after a huge jump or if they used lighting a lot or somehing like that...i guess thats what happened...
im sticking with the not fully a jedi yet so he cant harness the force whenevr he wants. alot of examples of this is in the Jedi Apprentice books

well, han's one of the best pilot's and if he can fly through an asteroidfield of course, and for second he has a very large ship. vader would have got him, cuz he stands no change against an upgraded YT-1300, it's turrets would have turned his TIE (oh, upgraded, looky, looky!) into a blasted piece a junk, bud!
(correlians rock)
the idea with the force pool sounds very good. yes, it might have been empty after that jump.
Not exactly a pool, even though that would be an interesting idea, more that he was exhausted from that huge jump. well that is kinda like a pool. but why doesn't the emporer get exhausted from his lighting?? (in ep6) hmmm maybe he has a huge pool.

yeah sure he has the better ship but vader has the force, han doesn't. the force can guide you and i think vader has much quicker reflexes than han has. a jedi/sith always has an advantage there.
The emporer wouldn't get tired because he's drawing his power from the darkside. His anger and hatred are what powers him, not the force.
