I knew it would be different from STBC and other older programs out there, and my anticipation for this game was great. The streamlined controls for energy flow and such are way to simplistic for what I was craving, but I can overlook that . I loved all the ships that are available that look friggen FANTASTIC, no problem there . My main, and ONLY real problem is with the sloppy, not well thought out, cumbersome, TARGETING SYSTEM ! Unable to target and keep lock on a bogey is just the start of a long list of SERIOUS complaints about the Targeting System. Since targeting is the core of combat it has completelty ruined any enjoyment I could ever possibly find in this game, and before I smash my monitor with my keyboard for the frustration of BETHS failure in the targeting system, I have deleted this game off my hard drive. Right now I am debating trading it in for credit on another game. DAMN YOU BETHESDA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad: Am I the Only one on this planet that feels this way ???????

I had simiar thoughts but after playing it for the past few days.. I'm gettting used to it and actually starting to like this system of targeting rather than having to press 'T' (or whatever key) several times to find the target you want.. just hold 'Space' and use the mouse scroll and find the icon of the ship you want to target (and each of those icons shows how much damage it has).

Like I said , I LOVE 90 percent of the game , but the targeting is a huge problem. This is a legit problem I have with the game that ruins the FANTASTIC 90 percent of the game that is beyond my dreams for what I hoped for . In fact it rubs salt in the wound over the obvious discare that the gaming industry has , to shovel games into a package and steam its way onto the shelves before they are ready. I have noticed the lowered expectations from many like lord Exar Kun, who seem to drool over anything with a label or tag with something they like on it, Bet you would buy a 24 kt gold turd if it said Star Trek. I think I'll fire up Star trek 25th aniv. in dos box and watch the red shirt get crushed by the falling boulder to work out my frustrations. All in all I am glad that the mind numb robot patrol likes the game, run lemming run, head tword the cliff!!!! By the way , if you love the game more power to you !! That does noT make you a mind numb robot, That only aplies to L. E. K. And cpt will

ok just reading on the legacy forums and found this post

I dunno about anyone else, but I was pretty disappointed with the game yesterday. Definately had my expectations shattered, I don't know what I was expecting I guess... but it wasn't this game.

But negativity aside, today I sat down and played it again, and I found myself playing it for almost an hour and a half and really enjoying myself. Maybe it's because I went into it with no expectations, but there IS a game here... a bit buggy... yes, but I am starting to enjoy it.

If bethesda can patch it up, and add a few of the requested features (choosing enemy ships in skirmish and keyboard config mostly) then I think I could grow to really like this game.

Point of this topic? Nothing really.. but then again most other topics on this board don't really have a point either. And it's better than reading someone bashing the game and the devs and whatever god they believe in for not gettin the perfect star trek game.

post from DarkDragon Edit: i was writeing this when you posted so some of this is now invalid to your opinions. how about you try playing it again you probaly dont like it due to your expectations being way to high.

I guess they were too focused on making it "modder friendly" and not in-game customizable... was there ever a beta released before retail? It is fun to play, but those bugs are just so annoying...

I heard is easier to play on your PC with an XBOX 360 controller. Since I dont have an XBox 360 and am not planning on getting one, how then can I use its controller on a PC? Will I need some kind of adapter or will it just go straight into a USB socket?

If I had a Ferrari that handled like a Yugo, it wouldn't be much fun. Yea it would look nice but it would be horrible to drive. One weak link in a chain can bring down the whole thing. The targeting system is the Yugo/chain factor in this game for me. I'll hold the game for a while and see if if they manage to work something out in a patch . If I had to score this game...

Graphics - 10

sound - 10

Story - 9

Controls - 8

Targeting - 1

Final Verdict - A brilliant job in game creation beyond what I expected to see , only to be brought down by a seemingly overlooked major function of gameplay ( the targeting system). Other than the targeting system Blues It is an awsome game, and as the game is centered around combat, the one weak point kills any viability and or enjoyment I could derive from the game. If they manage to patch this I would LOVE THEM FOREVER !!!!!!!!!

Untill then I AM NOT DISSAPOINTED, I AM DISGUSTED and INSULTED with what I deem as slap in the face with what they call a targeting system. I will endeavor to hold the highest hope that this MAY BE addressed by a future patch.
