I was actually looking forward to this game as the reviews I read on gamespot were promising. The controls are awful beyond comprehension. I am holding the mouse perfectly still during combat to not disrupt the lock on camera for combat otherwise it makes it sickening to view, I'm shooting phasers for 20 minutes to get the enemy shields down. still can't get a lock on to target subsystems. All the controls are multiple buttons and trying to turn and bank with the "W.S.A.D." keys is impossible while trying not to move the mouse to fire. My crosshair has locked up and I can't scroll the camera during battles, and when I try to go to any damage or ship targeting system or even the pause menu, I can't figure out how to unlock the damn thing and wind up crashing the program.
Can I return this horrible thing to EB games? I've never been so upset to try to give back a pc game.
Unless someone can explain the controls as this thing lacks anything even close to a control tutorial outside a few hints on button control during the first NX-01 mission, this is getting returned or winding up on ebay tomorrow.
ok get a 360 game pad simple.
yeah easier said than done. Do you have any idea how expensive a 360 controller is? Not to mention you have to buy a USB adapter to even be able to plug the thing into your computer to play it.
In the end, people end up spending between $50 and $70 just to play this game, and that is a total rip off. If I have as much trouble playing the game, I may end up returning it as well.
so to make it palatable, expect to have to buy a compatible controller and double the cost to play the game. Simple, but completely a slap in the face to pc users as this was designed for xbox's control format rather than have a workable keyboard scheme.
Does one have to buy a xbox360 controller specifically designed for pc or will any of the usb based 360 controllers work? I don't see any product design differences other than the pc version comes with a cd with software that can also be obtained from microsofts website http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/gaming/DownloadResult.aspx?prod=pk_xbox_cont&os=xp&lang=en&driverVersion=Download%20XBox%20360%20Controller%20for%20Windows
I ask if anyone has done this as it would save me going out to buy a specific controller vs transferring one from my 360 to my pc.
Can you return a pc game to EBgames for anything other than the same product? ---Answered my own question with a call to the store and corporate. "No returns on game software". I've never considered returning a game before in my life, regardless monetarily, but this is so bad out of principle I was willing to try. Ebay it goes. Serves me right for buying before reviews.
Well for anyone that thinks it sucks you can mail it to me as the game has not made it to lonely Alaska yet.
MUAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!! I've got my grimey claws on a copy... now to test her out and take some screenies!!!!
The cake is a lie. There is no cake.
