Putting two massive mods like these two together would obviously destroy your install so don't even try it.:uhoh:
Next time pay closer attention to the read me files in mods you download(reading them would've answered your question for you). ;)
so its one or the other, ok then.
You can have both mods installed at the same time...you just need to put the other in a seperate install thats all.
How long does it take to make a ship for this game, by the way?
To do everything from scratch yourself? Well, that depends on many things ofcourse. Whats your skill level(as in do you already know what you need to actually doto get the ship fully ingame)? What ship do you want to make? Canon or your own design? What model making and painting programs are you using? How much experience do you have with those programs? How good are you at scripting? For a first timer probably...3-4 months because you will always be rebuilding your early models until you get the hang of things. The pros around here(both armada, bc and legacy) can pump one out in a month or less. After a year or so making the actual model isn't really that bad but doing the textures will take even longer to get good at.
I just noticed the amount of new ships for this game was low since this year started. Im not a modder.
Here is the official answer to your question.
There are 3 versions of Trek Battles, 1, 2 and the latest 3.
Trek Battles 3 is not compatable with any mod whatsoever, you need a totally clean Legacy install for TB3 to work correctly, TB3 is not compatable with TB2 or TB1 either, it is a completely 'stand alone mod'
Hope this helps.
I didn't make it!
TB3 is not compatible with any other "TC" Mod whatsoever to be a little more precise. NGMods ship releases since it was released should work with it. I expect "many" NG ships released before it was released would work with it, although most if not all of those will already be included. And likely any NG team created maps (again most of which will be in the mod already unless they dropped them because of quality concerns).
I expect most "stock" compatible ships will work as well, just as like with UU. Same for Stock Compatible maps.
TC Mods are mods that modify numerous areas of the game. TB, UU, AM, TLG, and a number of smaller ones exist.
You "can" take ships for example from one TC and place them into another TC, it is possible but none of us support such things. Can give pointers or tell you basically how to do it, but won't take responsibility if you kill your install or worse by tampering with it, or if it creates other bugs, do it at your own risk. It's not Ment to be done therefore there is no why of knowing what problems could be introduced, also there is plenty of room for error when you do it especially if your unfamiliar with modding yourself. It's a bit more complex than grabbing a file or two.
As far as ship count being down. That's with the modder count being down, as well as many of the remaining ones being busy with other concerns. There is also alot that has already been done so the poll of quality ships isn't as big as it was, granted I know of quite a few that could be done yet given that the mesh creators will give permission. I wouldn't port a ship myself unless it's done right and of sufficient quality as far as mesh and textures go to start, you can get a ship ingame in 30minutes, but to finish it up properly takes hours. Now that's porting, actually making the model and textures from scratch... ya that takes alot more time, and more experience and talent than I have.
I'm sure there will be more ships come along this year, although I don't know by who. I have 1 at this point I'm working on porting for individual release. I'm also reworking some ships we already have in UU for our next release, but that will be awhile.
