Here's a possible design for the new GLA tank to balance out the overlord and centurion, it has a gun similar in size to the paladin that can also be used in a long range artillery mode (no moving fire innaccurate against moving targets, but longer range), the rocket launcher on the back can be upgraded to carry gas that converts enemy units into working for the GLA side (dune deviator anyone?)

I think the GLA have to have a more rustic look to their technology. I was thinking more of just a flatbed with makeshift rocket pods on it like the rocket buggy but on a greater scale with more range and power. That's one idea and if you're thinking of a heavy hitting tank for the GLA, you can use a tank from the USA or China such as a Paladin or an Overlord and change it a bit with the context that the GLA stole the designs and customized it for their own uses. How's that??

I dont think the idea is to create a "clone" of current tanks. I would rather see a tank that fits the GLA style of fighting rather then a GLA version of the Overlord. A high mobility tank with firepower that can compete with the paladin. Maybe give it a greater range then the Overlord and Paladin and more menuverability but just as much or just slightly less damage then the Paladin. Just some thoughts. By the way, that model looks great and I like the artilery idea you had for it earlier, making it a good multipurpose vehicle.

PSH, this isn't rustic enough looking? :-p (it's a modified marauder with a raised off center turret the rocket pack sits on the cargo carrier in the back) I think it is also possible that the GLA could develop a more modern vehicle, much like south africa did with their attack helicopters, this is meant to be a defense/offense unit of an established regime (late game unit basically) so it should be more modern, it will probably be more manuverable than the overlord but less than the paladin

yeah I'm sticking with the artillery mode option

Okaaaaay Okaaaay! Don't bite my head off guys it was just an idea. Oh one question, what type of shell would the main cannon use? You said the rocket launcher can be upgraded to carry gas but is the main cannon like an inferno or a normal shell? And one other question, you think the rocket pod should be a seperate upgrade or should it always come with the tank?

hehhe I was just joking about the rusticness it does look a little too good for a GLA unit. The main cannon when in tank mode will be a normal AP shell with the toxin shell upgrades. the artillery version will be longer range, explosive and a larger anthrax radius

the rocket pod will be similar to the rocket buggy at build, but the upgrade will allow it to use the toxin

edit: the rocket pod will mode switch, the normal rockets will be heavier varients of the buggy and can hit air targets, the toxin will be a button special attack

that sounds really good .. the gla needs more power .. at least if you get the attilary mod working it could be also used as a base defense just wanted to say it by the way .. jedi could you change the quads so that they attack aircrafts so that you dont have to go to the force attack mod

New ideas:

a plane that can disperse anthrax/radioactive particles. it can also do kamikaze attacks.

low flying jet plane (a canopy and fuslage wrapped around an engine... nothing complex)

Weapons: Anthrax/ Nuclear waste Special ability: Kamikaze attacks Speed: F-22/Mig 29

Recruiter (unique character)

Weapon: assault rifle special ability: depends on the general's rank, this guy can make rebels/rocket soldiers (depends on the general) from any civilian building. lets say... Rank 1 - 5 recruits Rank 2 - 10 recruits Rank 3 - 15 recruits Rank 4 - 20 recruits Rank 5 - 25 recruits

Infiltrator

Weapon: assault rifle Stealth unit Special ability: Can go inside enemy building(s) (depends whether you wanna make him re-useable or not) and you can either gain info on what that guy is building/recruiting, or steal some $$$.

Trainer

Weapon: None Special ability: trains civilians to become terrorists. the enemy will not know who is a civilian terrorist and who is an innocent civilian. can upgrade the trainer. Trainer's level 1: Arms civilians with HE. Trainer's level 2: Arms civilians with HE and chemical weapons.

Quad

Upgrade: Gatling cannon + stingers

Tunnel system

upgrade the building to link it to tunnel system. make the worker work on a civilian building to build a tunnel system inside it.

imho, GLA should make use of civilians (fight or ???) because they threaten to kill their families (just like wat those nice Iraqi soldiers did)

of course, Chinese can nuke the area and USA can cut every building into pieces... maybe give the general some sorta penalty for using super weapons in an urban environment?

also, is it possible to make those fighters in the game patrol waypoints instead of circling?

Ummm. Take a gander over at the gen modx thread. This is a spin off of that thread on what new unit should be added to counter the centurion and overlord. But some good ideas none the less.
