ive just started making new units... I made a new unit based on the MiG (at the moment its basically an extra MiG) and i want to assighn a new model and texture to it. soo i copied the model.w3d and the texture.dds , renamed them and placed them in there relevant Art folders.. when i launch the game my new mig is invisible..(and not in a good way)

Q : how do i assigh the new model to the new unit? (i dont have gmax but i can edit dds, if that helps )

thank u in advance :bows:

First off, what game are you modding? Zero Hour or just regular Generals? If Zero Hour then which general were you planning on adding this unit to?

If you are just working with Generals, then you have to specify in the factionunit.ini which model you want to use. At the beginning of your unit text there will be a couple lines that designate this. Change these lines to your new units. Of course, this is assuming you have not screwed up the model or texture by trying to edit them. Maybe see if having the correct naming reference fixes it, if not then come back with a specific description of what your trying to do, what you did do, and what programs you have used.

You have to load the model to Gmax reapply the skin then export it under a different name. renaming the file only won't work.

The problem of insivisble models is usually cause by the name of the polygon group, What you need to do is attach all the bits of the model together and name them CHASSIS that should make it work.

With tanks you have to name the turret: TURRET01, chassis: CHASSIS, barrel: BARREL01/BARREL.
