Well, first off I have to say I'm rather new to modding. I've done some changes to the "factionunit" and "factionbuilding" files and that seems to work fine. I then downloaded the mod from generals files for the C130 spectre gunship, and the game doesn't load up, apparently a "Serious Error" Occurs. I have traced this error to the file "Commandset" as it is the only one which I seem to need the original, unmodified file for the game to load up - all the other file I can change as much as I want and the game loads up fine.

Anyone know why this happens???

hmm... sounds strange :uhm: What did you change at the Factionunit - Building File??? Maybe there is the Failure, not in the Commandset.ini. i don't believe that there would be the Failure...

Perhaps theres a syntax error in the commandset.ini. My advice is just to take a frech commandset.ini file from 1.6 and re-add the C-130 entry. Its only one unit so how hard could it be?

I just changed things like damage, cost and health in the factionunit and building files so it doesnt take like 5 or 6 tank shells to kill one man, and some things (such as paladin) I made more powerful but more expensive - nothing too radical

Lord might be right, take a new commandset and then enter everything you need for the Gunship and it should be fine again ;)

There is a file you can check to see what is the cause of the serious error. Its in the \My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Data\ folder and is called something like serious error report.

This little file will take much guess work out of where you went wrong in editing. It tell you which file is screwing up and what section of that file is the problem. Been a lifesaver for me at times :smokin:

Yes, it might be the commandset.ini or you could try to update your game if it's not already.
