i am writing a little mod and created a unit called navy seals. It uses the col. Burton animations and models. I found a skin for col. burton that would fit perfectly with this new unit. but i dont want just to replace the burton skin cause then the "orginial" burton would look like the seal too.

is there a way just to use the animations/models with the new skin?

just place the skin where in belong in folder stlye ex. you see this if you open the texture.big art\textures\col_burton.dds (an example only)

meaning place this at C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command and Conquer Generals\Art\Textures\col_burton.dds

i use this kind technique to prevent the defualt files and i'm lazy in importing new files inside a big file.

suggetion(s): use XCC Universal Container Reader for opening a .big files, this is the GREATEST opener out there but not all people know.It has the complete feature importing to editing in notepad.

View my Work: This is not my official General startup logo i'm selecting in 600+ animewallpaper if you want wallpapers i leeched www.animewallpapers.com. Here's my add. http://www.geocities.com/snidereu/animeurl_list.html

Remember: Don't even try to to place all texture and w3d files in a folder. Just place as low as possible.

another: if you want to remove the edited file in the game just delete the file and whallah back to defualt...

if you any question just ask and i'll try to answer it.

Thx for the answer but it wasnt quite what i want to do. Perhaps i did not state clearly enough what i need. I created a new unit called Navy Seal. It uses the Animations from Col. Burton. I have a new skin for col. Burton BUT i want to use the original skin aswell as the new skin so u can build the orginial col. burton and he still looks like the "real" one ;) as well as the new unit called seal which looks like the new skin.

But i think i figured out that i will have to dublicate the whole animationthing as well, open it and replace the textures within.:(

Maybe there is a differentway but i havent found one so far but hey its only my second day into modding :D

no no no you will need is to duplicate the factionunit.ini copy the whole properties of col.burton and place it at the end of that ini file then edit the name.I think there is another ini for textures...hmm... just do that and if there is other problem just ask for it.
