Does anyone know how to add different weapons on to existing vehicles? Like putting a flamethrower on a comanche. Thanks for all reply's.

First off your going to need to extract the ini.big file so that you can edit it. Use any .big editor to do this. Once you have that extracted to a safe folder go into the data/ini/object folder. Should look just like that and will be wherever you extracted the big. In the Object folder there should be several notepads that have all the units listed in them. They are organized into infantry, aircraft and vehicle.

Lets put the flamethrower on the commanche like u mentioned. Open up the aircraft notepad and scroll down until you find the commanche section. Here you will see a lot of commands for the commanche. This is where the commanche is told how it is to react to certain situations. Leave these parts alone and continue scrolling down farther through the commanche section. You will eventually find a part that is called "Design Parameters." This is where you can edit the price, vision, shroud clearing range, experience levels and most importantly weapons. Look at the current weapons set, it lists two of them. One is for before the rocket pods upgrade and one is for after it. We are going to have to add the flamethrower to both lists to get it to work before and after the upgrade. So go to the first list and hit enter after the blank tertiary weapon set. In the new line type in the following...

Weapon = Quaternary DragonTankFlameWeapon AutoChooseSource = Quaternary FROM_PLAYER FROM_SCRIPT FROM_AI

Now just add this same thing to the next list that shows the rocketpodsupgrade is available. Once you have it in both spots your good to go.

One last quick thing, the quaternary is the fourth term in the words they were using (ex. primary, secondary, tertiary, quaternary...) I dont know if it is required or not, I doubt it is critical but you never know. The autochoosesource makes it so that commanche will use the weapon automatically, you can type in NONE if you want to aim the flamethrower yourself only and dont want the commanche trying to use it. Now so far as I know that should do it, if you have any problems just let me know and I'll see if I cant get it to work on my comp.

quartenary works? it always crashed when I tried it, does quintenary and so on? I'd love to pimp out some high tech vehicles

ok thanks ill have to switch back what i just did because i editted the weapons ini file and not the faction unit. So thanks. Hopefully i can get this to work.:confused:

Yeah i tried this and it still used the machine gun. Should I just remove that or did i do something wrong? This is what I put.

I can't get this to work so I'll just wait and see if you can. It just keeps saying technical difficulties. Maybe I'll try it on another unit like one on the ground and c if it works.

Stupidest thing lol. What I did was created an air to air missile for the comanche and put it as a fourth weapon on the unit. So happens I misspelled the damn thing when i added the weapon in the units notepad. whats worse is that the unit still worked even with it being mispelled. Now I went in and corrected it and noticed that the weapon doesn't fire itself automatically. what I'm thinking may be needed is for it to be targeted by the user. So I'm going to go in and add another icon in the comanche bar right next to the rocket pods and see if that will allow it to be used. Another idea may be that the From_Script and From_AI may be why the weapon isn't fired. You may need to go into the ai script somewhere and enable the weapon for the comanche as well.

try setting it with preffered against, unless you only want it to be triggered by player interuption I believe you can set multiple weapons to the same target

preferredagainst PRIMARY VEHICLE STRUCTURE preferredagainst SECONDARY VEHICLE INFANTRY

something like that

FROM_PLAYER I believe is when you do a manual attack, FROM_SCRIPT is from a action like clicking a button and FROM_AI requires that it look at the ai script from the map/skirmish.scb

so u got it to work? Yea i guess ill have to change that ai thing and hope it works. Would i also have to add a ground command to the attack?
