Okay, I'm finally learning to model, I have a set of great tutorials, g-max and ren-x. But my boning tut only tells how to bone tanks, so how do I bone a factory so that units come out of a specific place? And where can I get a (free) program that will let me turn a .dds file into a TGA file and vice-versa?

just use photoshop to open .dds then save as to .tga for the modeling you place a bone called "start-enter" and "start-exit" to learn more about bboning a specific model category just import the .w3d of a game original and sttudy the naming of all the bones and their relative placement.

Actually just the photoshop won't let you import dds files, you'll need annother file...

Dont use that download. Go look up "Photoshop .DDS plugin" on google and follow the directions there. It isnt that simple. You need to put a certain DLL in the windows directory first.

sigh, okay I'll try both of em' later. But another thing, how do you create doors and animate them for the factory?

You can get photoshop from www.adobe.com It'll cost you about $650 (i think that's about £5?).

Or, if you are teh p00r, you can try paint shop pro www.jasc.com/ ... last time I checked there was a free trial, and the dds imported should work with it.
