I owuld much rather see the same code three times than one code for all three sides. It would make much more sense to have it so that you oculd add units to one side (or two) than three. We modders can probably edit that pretty easily, besides that, I am a modeler, so I don't need to worry about it...
What happened with this idea? is it still in the works?
yeah.. this idea sounded great...especially since I can't mod!! Is it still being worked on?
Well, yes, and no
I was working on another game (not one that is made, I was actually MAKING one) but my limited C++ knowledge has hindered that. The C&C Generals Mod Maker is a project I would like to do, but I also want to make an Online Magic: The Gathering Trading Center, which is actually 85% complete. Therefore, I may finish the magic center and then work on the C&C Generals thing. Just to show my friend what the C&C Generals thing would be like, here is a really quick example of page 1 of the modmaker:
Note that the units list at the bottom was aa quick copy/paste so it isnt accurate. What will be there is a list of EVERY unit for EACH race and the ability to assign (yes that means China could build technicals, etc)
ALSO, my current Civ3files web server is out of space. Since ini coding really doesnt take up space, that is no problem, but the art for each unit would also be posted on there, which complicates things. I would set up my home server but my HD crashed and I have bills that need to be paid before I can get a new one, and even then my ISP has capped my connection at 15kbps. :( :deal: :(
Sweet.... That is an awesome setup... how's this thing coming?
