I notice that there are not very many files out there (Maps, skins, and mods) for SP. Is it that difficult of process? Also, there isn't a map editor for Mac OS! That's too bad. I have so many great ideas for maps. Is it just lazyness or is it very difficult to convert an editor to Mac OS? I do not understand. Mac's processors are the best for graphics and script processing even if you do not have that much RAM. What gives?

They were, maybe 5 years ago from now....but, can you fight against a PC that goes at 2.0Ghz with 1Gb Ram and 3 fan collers?!!?

By the way, its less expensive 2....

macs still have the fastest chip on the market no matter what people tell u. it is risc based. however apple still employs old technology in regards to ram and to video cards. not only that apple doesnt own much of the home pc market which is where the gamemakers major market is. sure apple may have a whopping 3% of the pc market however that includes businesses like production companies, ad agencies and edit houses for example.

u have to look at if from the large game makers pov. how many copies will they really sell to apple users? how long will it take to port to multiple apple os' and how long will it take to port to the many diff apple cpu's? here a few funny links i posted on another theard.

Man this question has been around in other facets of the computing world for a long time. The only major problem with macs is the copyrights they enforce which drive up the cost of the software development. You ever notice the price difference for the same software title for a mac versus the pc? Apple/Mac would do much better if they would loosen up on the license policy and would probably get a bigger % of market share also. There is no doubt that for graphics the mac stands out but for convienience and cost the pc has the market share. There will always be loyal mac users and pc users. 2 camps!! It all comes down to open source and where the biggest user base is!! Good Thread!! :cya:

I wouldn't call it bias. SP maps are probably harder to make and people find it easier to just make MP ones.

Yep & since something like 95% of computer users or something use windows they want their product to be known to bigger audience or they don't know how to code for mac or don't have the time.

Also SP is not as popular as MP, therefore a lot of attention is on MP maps and skins.

As for the Macs: 2 years ago they ruled. Now a Mac can't even compare to the performance of a medium pc. Check tomshardware for articles and all the details. Even in applications like photoshop, 3D studio max and stuff, the mac trails behind pc performance.

Good Thread guys, The single biggest reason that pc's are used by the majority of users is the fact that you can build one yourself.:agreed: I will never again go to a store and buy a prepackaged computer that has alot of junk software and/or hardware that I would never want. I spec out my own machines and buy the components I want! That way my machine performs for what I use it for. If macs went that way the market share would probably balance out some. Never used a mac myself (don't plan on it anytime soon) but I am sure they are usable for certain things!! Just my 2 cents!! :cya:

My brother is a die-hard MAC user. (and always will be) However, he had to build a PC in order to play cool games like RTCW.

I think the total cost of the PC was cheaper than the MAC CPU he had to buy when it fried. Since there is no competition for makers of parts for MACS, the prices are 1980's HIGH.

Personally, I will take the minor annoyances of Windows, the occasional crashes, etc in order to have the ability for a cheap machine that plays killer games.
