Exactly what i heard. I think it is coming out in late 2005 and will have a complete new set of characters.

they'd better not "shelve" it... there'd be a mass uprising, and all those horrible Star Wars-and-not-Trekkies would rule the world!

Introducing an entirely new crew or cast into a feature film is going to be an intresting move for the Trek franchise, and one im not entirely sure will pan out. Theres going to have to be alot of carrictor development during the actual movie, unlike in the TNG and TOS films were you already knew the cast like the back of your hand, wich will hinder the storyline deeply, and also leave about... no room for error when tweaking a cast to fit the audience's needs. The TOS cast had four years on TV and TNG seven, both became firm fan favorites and were tweaked into being loved by a nation well before any feature film, now bringing a set of new peeps in from a film really makes it difficult to get into. Its basicly going to be "How and what does it change about the cannon universe" reasons for me wanting to wach rather then "Lets go and see our favorite carrictors .... ON A MOTION PICTURE!" kind of excitement with the past 10 films. It may very well stand up well as its own Sci-Fi movie, but lets be honest, the Star Trek fan base is HUGE and alot of fans are going to go away feeling a little dissapointed if this is done. In my opinion at least. Im really all for a Voyager movie, cause, frankly, the cast are just fantastic. And im also suffering without my weekly dose of bleepy L-Cars consoles and other magical 24th century wonders, that Enterprise at least seams to have taken alot of the magic away from. Other thing about enterprise, it was supposed to be a way of "getting back to basics"... yet they use cheap excuses to bring 24th century tech in, force feilds, holodeck in one episode, transporters, hell, i saw ferengi!!
