I was just wondering... Is the Excalibur a canon ship? I've never seen it in any episodes that I can recall, and I'd just like to see what it looks like in a show. Anyone able to shead any light on this? Thanks.

The ship is a community design I believe, it has never been part of a show.

If you're talking about the ship available for Armada, SFCIII, BC and Legacy... what Hocking said.

If you're talking about the USS Excalibur found in the New Frontier novels, then it's an Ambassador class.

Its indeed a huge and powerful ship. Im trying to imagine what kind of chaos that fed ship would brought in the dom wars. =p

The real Excalibur was a Federation Ambasador Class Commanded by Captain Rikers old Captain DeSoto.

The Excalibur then changed hands to Cap[tain Mckenzie Calhoun. The Excalibur was then destroyed by a nano computer virus in the Double Helix Saga. Afterward the Excalibur was brought back as a Galaxy class with the alpha prefix on it's registry.

This galaxy is equiped with a Saucer section warp sled allowing both sections to manuver at wrap speeds.

But the other Excalibur is a creation by Admiral Hocking as the others have pointed out.

No it isn't...

Which is from the books and not any series, the books aren't really considered canon although do make for an interesting read.

That's write it's not...That was my miss conception form a long long time ago...

When It concerns the New Frontieer I'm not concerned with canon. In my world canon is what I like and good writing needs to canon because Trek has been in short supply of it since Generations came out so I way "canon" for the sake of getting back to what Trek is really about...Good stories.

I can't see how you'd connect me with it for a long time, I have nothing to do with the BC community, the community that made the design popular.

Fair point, I personally am rather fond of those set after the series'.

Although this thread isn't about the books so I wont continue.

I always liked the name Excalibur for a ship name. I have also liked the name Excelsior (I knew it from the poem before Star Trek).

The original Excalibur was a Constitution class from the episode "The Ultimate Computer" and was destroyed by the M-5 Computer.

So shouldnt the Ambassador class Excalibur have a suffix letter?
