Okay just another couple of odd question. Would the computer systems on federation ships be vunerable to virus attack? (I don't mean like borg nanites, more like the mydoom virus) Do the Federation have anti-virus software? Later Deepwater

I'd say yes since today we have sophisticated way to combat viruses but the bad guys still come up with ways around it through back doors and such. It's like anti-theft devices on cars. Has it stopped auto theft? No.

ROFL :p Unless the Federation are suddenly running Windows, No, no chance in high hell. And since we all know Starships run L-Cars.

They've had viruses in the past. At least, destructive programs. Remember the episode when they discovered the Iconian gateway? Not only was the Enterprise crippled because of the Iconian program, but the Romulan Warbird was similarly disabled. It wasn't exactly a virus, but at least it suggests that neither Federation nor Romulan computers aren't invulnerable.

Yeah, MR. Matt is right, they've had them before. you could make it disable the weapons and sheilds would be a good weapon

Heh, yeah, that would be good. Or a virus that finds and transmits a starship's prefix code to you so you could just take control of it

I think teh LCARS system is more vunerable to hackers. It seems like everybody and his wife can gain access to a Starfleet computer if he wants to. Perhaps Stafleet should invest in a firewall...

They have a firewall. Only problem is, it's one they dug out of their libary computer history archive; they've just retrofitted the standard Windows XP firewall to their own computers. As such, it's under foreign control more frequently than their own control.
