Hi Guys, Question for you and poll!! Do you prefer a ff off or on server. Do you feel that game skills suffer if you play on a ff off server. I would be interested in what the intelligent players think.

I posted even though you didn't include me :lol: :lol:

Is there any other way to play a MP shooter?? FF off means you can just blast away at anything that moves regardless of the target. Wolfie and other FPS's are basically twitch games but you still have to control the twitch to some degree. We all wack each other at times but if you pump half a clip into a m8 before you realize who he is, you're not paying attention or don't care...

It's really easy...DON'T shoot if you see the name...how hard is that...also, set "Team Overlay" to "Long". That way you should have a good idea (assuming you know the map) of where your teammates are and it will help you to nade and throw airstrikes where they are least likely to vaporize your buds...

You know what I am gonna say Friendly Fire on. In real life world war II that's the way it would have been. Also otherwise you have door blockers etc w/ pb you can at least kick the excessive team killers :p

I would def. say ff on.

To be honest, I dont see the point of playing on a ff off server. In real life combat theres always a high risk of getting killed from friendly fire, and it happens all the time. On rtcw, the risk of friendly fire is one of the basic ingredients that makes the game so attractive. Yes, its frustrating getting your ass killed by teammates, but it happens, and next time it might be you delivering those deadly friendly bullets (or airstrikes). Take away this risk, and the game is reduced to an uninteresting noobish game without any feel of reality.

The only thing I can say to the advantage of ff off, is that you dont run the risk of getting deliberate teamkills - which really mess up the game. However, this is a very rare problem on at least ver 1.4 and 1.3... I would rather take that small risk of deliberate tks, than playing a game without that reality feel I get from playing with ff on.

Bla bla bla.. those are my thoughts on this. :D

RTCW is definately the best game to date for FF servers. I have a serious mental problem when I play on FF servers in BF1942 and Day of Defeat (or any other Half-Life mod in that case), TK management is not as good as RTCW's, and I meet much fewer TKers in RTCW than any other games so far. So basically it doesn't matter if FF is on or not, I personally like the challenge of FF, especially when I'm a flamethrower!

A special feature of FF off is nothing to worry about. In Happy_Penguin, people can shoot or stab me in the back to get my attention and I remain unharmed.. it makes things alot easier. Objective E Market Garden bans about 20 people daily for TKing.. but, the only reason it's done is because it's able to be done. Sure, spec killing still exists, but the fact of the matter is, is that when you got a server with 60 people, jam-packed, at least one is bound to be a TKer. Read the rules at the HP site.. one part is an FAQ section! One question asks "Why is TK off?" And the answer is because when you have that many people, it's almost irresistable. If HP had TKing, you could make yourself a known Wolf player by torching 15 or 20 people at the flag in the FDA. In Objective E, TKing is rampant. My clan sent me an e-mail today saying that we will no longer go to Objective E, but we will switch to Happy_Penguin (or something) because of ::GASP!:: Excessive Team killing! To wrap it up, FF off in a server is everything you want.

FF=ON:agreed:

That's the only way to play. If an airstrike, a nade crazy Engineer, a panzer, or a flamer make a mistake their team suffers also...Kinda like real-life

:eek:

Well, when I first started playing about a year ago I played only on FF off servers. I was worried about Tk'ing and getting kicked off the server while I was learning the game.

I think players should stay on FF off servers the first couple of weeks or even months until they have enough self control to keep from making the foolish noob mistakes that we are all prone to when we first start. I remember getting so excited at the prospect of killing an enemy that i would toatally disregard the four teammates in my line of fire and just open up.

I just think FF off servers do provide a good place to learn the ropes before you move on to FF on.
