My set up is essentially, tribes. :D
Does everyone use WASD? I use the arrow keys NUMPAD_0 as reload END as crouch ENTER as use SHIFT as sprint NUMPAD 1 - 6 as select weapon.
This seems to work great for me, what advantages does WASD have, my biggest problem is you can't "rock" the middle finger between back and forward.
I think another good setup would be to use the number pad itself as the primary keys. I think the only thing the arrow keys lack is ease of LEANING. Something I almost never do.. but probably would if I used another keyboard arrangment.
8 forward 5 back 7 lean left 9 lean right 4 strafe left 6 strafe right
Quite a few keys in the immediate area for binding quickly needed items too.
It is interesting to see how others set up their KB.
--- The arrow keys work well for me though. The ol' pinky gets quite a bit of work in jumping/crouch manuvers like jumping through a window, etc. The WASD setup was just very difficult for me when I first started playing Q3, etc so I started looking at other options.
I have jump as my MOUSE2. If you use your pinky for jump/crouch, what is your mouse2?
My mouse2 is move forward, the WASD is to awkward cause you have to take your fingers off strafe left right which is too useful not to have available all the time.
So - strafe left right is A & D, backward is S, with three fingers always there my pinky is on sprint (another important key) My thumb is over the space bar for jump, with C for crouch just above it. forward is mouse2, fire is mouse1 and use is mouse3 (for us with 3 button mousies).
Works for me.
Interesting. Mouse 2 to go forward.
Mouse 2 is set up for sprint.
It started as just a test but has worked out pretty well and I am now sprinting like a mad man, unconsciously. I could not think of another needed function for mouse 2 so sprint it is

Closer? My thumb sits right on the spacebar while I play ;>
Yeah, I guess that would make t farther away them, wouldn't it
My wholesetup is the mouse:
left button>attack right button> jump wheel-switch weapons wheel-push down,zoom wheel-in zoom-zoom in/out
I use arrowkeys to move, ctrl to duck, r to reload, enter to activate. But these buttons are only used in the siutations they aquire.
