Been a while since I sat down and posted much here. I have NOT stopped playing RTCW MP at all, in fact I am as addicted as ever.

I am a fanatic about little things that can help me get an edge over the competition. Having a good computer system with a decent video card is a big help. However, people often overlook how you interface with the computer. Here are some of the the gadgets, ideas and other tips to help improve your gaming. Every fraction of a second saved can give you an advantage. Yes, some of these may seem laughable, but they all are proven and work.

Key binding. For selecting weapons, med packs, needle nose pliers, syringes, ammo packs, etc., I highly recommend you bind a key for them and use those keys for quickly pulling out a syringe, etc with. It is too clunky and slow to use your mouse wheel exclusively for this.

Mouse. A quality optical mouse is a must. I attempted to use a Razor Boomslang and hated it. I MUST have a very slick surface for my mouse. I use this industrial teflon adhesive sheeting that I stick to my desk. I keep it very slippery by spraying it with silicone lube spray. Think of moving a stick of butter in a hot pan. The mouse never jumps and is very precise.

Mouse sensitivity. There are 2 schools of thought here. Low sensitivity and you move your arm all over the place to aim. HIGH sensitivity: you move your mouse 1/2" and do a 180. I use higher sensitivity. It reduces fatigue and accuracy is still pretty damn good.

Foot Controls. No one makes FPS foot controllers. Did people forget we have two extra, unused limbs? I fabricated foot controllers from a Nostromo n50 speedpad and this gives me 6 foot paddles to use for voice commands, leaning, walking, etc. It's all programmable and allows one to keep their fingers on the primary controllers. Imagine being able to crouch, walk, look thru binoculars and say "INCOMING!" all at the same time.

4.1 or 5.1 speakers. Being able to hear behind you is very handy. It is harder for people to sneak up behind you.

Placement of keyboard, mouse, chair. My keyboard is 25 inches from the ground, and my mouse in on the same level as that. My chair has padded arms that are about 26 to 27 inches from the ground. Both of my arms rest on the chair's arm rests.

There you have a few of my goofy tips. Fleder

Been a long time since I replied eh? Anyone even remember me? One thing I notice is Wolf is a game of superstion...I always play on HPC and its always depot. When I am on axis and its the start of a new game...I always jump out the window and cheer when I die...now I know it takes away points but its always a sign of luck for the axis team

Hmmm... yeah try to strafe and be able to shoot at your targets at the same time, you can also strafe AND jump to make it even harder for your enemy to kill you. Lol I remember you Aar1012 long time no see, same for FlederMaus! I havn't seen you for awhile either. Oh yeah try to put as much memory as possible in your computer to make thing run faster. This will allow you to play with less slowness and you won't get killed as much.

Word of advice for people with slow computers, try defense. I know it will seem boring but if your team is on offense and only 2 or 3 on defense, the other team will get past, so you will be there incase backup is needed

Ok my reply to jumping around the map as if you were a Rabbitt. I think if you are jumping behind a Crate as with an engineer making a bridge, Fortification, or Jumping to miss a Snipers fire. Or if you need to jump to avoid a Crew Served Mg. etc. But when it comes to a Duel with another MP Player. Shoot and move. Your jumping around like a fool frankly pisses more people off than not. Learn to out manouver, out smart and ultimately out shoot your attacker. If you do this you wont need to jump around like an A##. Play as a good sport and use courtesy. Remamber, you are hard enough to kill as it is. the programmers and modders planned it that way. Cheaters Suck. Shoot Straight Smoke-A-Bowl

It's funny watching people used to this strategy when they are playing in the wildwest. Hewster's made it so that if you are clipped by a bullet, you are hurt. That means you move slower and you can't keep on jumping round. So the trick is to simply kneel and shoot at places where you know the jumping person will be. They'll jump less and less and eventually try to stumble away. You can walk over and just slice them up . I like to think of the picture of some one jumping up and down in front of Clint Eastwood. "You can't shoot me, You can't shoot me." I think the principal holds true in RtCW. You might not always get a head shot but a good solid barage at where their head is arcing will get the job done. I like the idea of the foot peddles. That sounds like a fun project. And THE 4 SPEAKERS REALLLLLY HELP!!!! This is vital for the WildWest side of things where you hear the boot spurs. However it is also very useful in RtCW. Even on the SP maps. Just buy a $15 sound card on ebay and an extra set of $11 speakers on from Walmart and you are in business. THEN play defense. Sit in a spot where you cannot see very well but you can pop out from hiding when you hear people coming from a specific direction. I have a good spot in a map where there are 5 routes within hearing distance. I can use the surround sound speakers to identify the approach of the enemy and basically shut down them down since they are looking for places where people can see not where people can hear. I can't see anything from where I am sitting but I can HEAR! This actually makes playing closer to real life using all of your senses. Well most of them. We're still waiting for smellevision.
