This is my collection that I've been building up lately. I've been getting them cheap off ebay (mostly resin or toys) and sanding and painting them up with some tlc. I'm pleased with this set of Phaser IIs, but I'm still missing the Dustbuster and Assault Phaser (particularly looking for the latter), so if you hear of anything in the UK selling these, let me know.
So In chronological order, we have the Phase Pistol, which I'm particularly proud of. This used to be Art Asylum's Ent Phaser, which is very detailed. I took it a step further and resprayed it to more suitable colors. Took a while to build up, having to spray the whole thing the base color before masking off the darker section and giving another spray. This even opens up to reveal a power core inside, where I placed a caution sticker themed after the warning signs you see all over the ship.
The original Phaser type II from TOS, again from AA cos of how sweet and cheap these things are. This was very difficult, and I think I spent the longest on this. I'm still not too happy on ythe overall color, it seems too blue to me. It was a nightmare avoiding the clear plastic areas, some having gotten paint on. The chrome color finished off nicely considering it wasn't car paint (automotive paint is a must for these jobs), but it took practically three days to dry.
My least favourite and least accurate is the TMP/TWOK Phaser type II. This was the Playmates version and it was crap. I made it look slightly better, taking off an unsightly belt hook, fillering in the gaps but there was simply too little detail on it to make it look like the real thing indicating many innaccuracies.
The next one is the STIII Type II phaser which I enjoyed doing (red trigger:naughty: ) The Type 1 is just veclroed to the top though. The whole thing was practically gunmetal so it didn't take long.
The Cobra Type II was not done by me, but I got it off eBay already complete, and it seems to be a hybrid between the real thing and a Playmates (which are seriously crap) but its resin and the detail is quite good so I'm happy.
The Boomerang was my first phaser, which I got off eBay already done. I was a Playmates, the Insurrection oneis suprisngly accurate for Playmates, the only qualm being the power bar. This was the phaser which started me gettting the others.
Another proud one is the Dolphin Nemesis Phaser type II, which was again resin. I painted it up using the same metallic color as the Phase Pistol and I love the color scheme. Neat little phaser, but it's tiny! Wish I'd thought of simply printing off a power bar onto paper and sticking it down, because that is just some of those circle stickers you can buy stuck down and varnished.
I'm still waiting for the Dustbuster to precede my Cobrahead, and the Assault Phaser to go before that and I'll have gotten the whole array of type IIs.
OH MY GOSH!! IN THE NAME OF THE GREAT MAKER!!!! This is beautiful!! Are these of yours endaevour??
Yes. Made them myself bar the Cobra and Boomerang.
If I start collecting something, I usually end up getting carried away.
made them by yourself??? Fuck damh!!! You can earn money of this its incredibly the details!!!
Not from scratch. They were made from resin, which I bought, sanded down and painted. Or they were toys which I sanded and painted. The details come from when they were made. As I said, I bought them raw off eBay.

Heh, those are real nice. Good job
indeed your the best of week endaevour!
My advice to anyone wanting to make these is use only the finest materials.
The Art Asylum phasers (Ent and TOS) are good quality for the price and you can pick them up on eBay every so often. The Playmates are common as muck, but only get the better ones, like the Boomerang (and to the extreme, the TWOK, but I don't particularly like the detail). As for the rest, go for resin or a model kit. Roddenberry.com sells them (expensively) but cheaper, less detailed, and unfortunately most likely recasts tend to show up on eBay but these are rare so you'd probably need to stick to eBay daily or add a favourite search so that ebay emails you when new finds are posted.
If you want a basic tutorial, simple pointers, I could give them, since some of you I presume are not prop builders.
I'm too cool to Post
